The people at the Stannah office in MA were great. I found comparing the other models and those of rival maker very helpful. My only frustration is that the lift goes so-o-o slowly up and down our stairs. And I have to turn in back towards the wall so that my husband can get by. To do this I have to reach over to the button that lifts the step rest, and then put up the handles. It makes me a little uneasy reaching over because I am afraid I'll loose my balance. Otherwise, I am glad I bought the lift. Sincerely, Lura F. Butt (person who has the disability)

Stannah stairlift provided me with all I was looking for in a chairlift. The sales person did not try to sell me anything I did not want or need. Indeed he tried to talk me out of certain things.Very happy with my choice. Also the gentleman who installed definitely knew what he was doing.Clean and efficient and explained everything when he was finished. I have been pleased with the entire experience. Thank You

After much research on various stairlift companies prior to purchase, we decided on Stannah, and I am happy that we chose them. Each staff member along the way has been very professional, knowledgable, kind & supportive. My parents are thrilled to have the stair lift - we just wonder why we didn't do it much sooner. Would def. recommend the team at Stannah!

Don't get the retracting rail option without carefully considering this. If left in the down position (with the rail extended), the lift will beep incessantly until the chairit is moved back up to where the rail is retracted and the battery can be charged. This is a horrible design, IMO. I was told by the sales agent that the chair wouldn't charge when it is positioned on the retracting rail, and I was fine with that because it's supposed to be able to run for 4 days without being charged and I knew that it would be ridden back to the top of the stairs every night. I was never told that it would be impossible to leave the chair at the bottom of the stairs for any length of time because of the non-stop beeping. I told Stannah that I wanted them to fix this, but they refused. They claimed that leaving the chair at the bottom of the stairs could be a safety hazard in some situations, which makes no sense at all because they would have happily sold me a fixed rail lift in the same location. I can understand that they don't want to let the battery die, but it would make much more sense to silence the beeping after a minute or so (the way my car does when it's telling me I don't have my seat belt on) and then perhaps resume with the non-stop beeping if the chair is left off the charging strip for more than a day, or if the battery drains below a certain level. You should be able to ride the lift down, get up and just walk away without having to fuss with sending the chair half way back up the stairs every single time in order shut the blasted thing up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ My response to Stannah's reply: Turning off the power to the chairlift by flipping the white switch under the chair is NOT an acceptable solution. For a frail and elderly person who needs the chair to get up and down the stairs, asking them to bend over and reach around the back of the chair to flip a switch is just unreasonable. I elected for the retracting rail because the fixed rail is a trip hazard when the chair is at the top of the stairs and the protruding rail might not be seen. When the chair is at the bottom of the stairs, there is no trip hazard because the chair is there. The chair is a partial obstruction in the hall, but there is plenty of room to simply walk around it. Just because some people may want the chair to always be out of the way does not mean that you should make it so that all users have no choice but to get the chair out of the way. There should be a way to disable the beeping, or at least have it time out as suggested above, if that's the way the customer wants it.

Hi Mr. Dumont, We're sorry that you aren't happy with the design of the retractable rail. It is true that your stairlift needs to be parked at the top of the stairs in order to charge. This is due to the fact that retractable rails are typically only installed in situations where there is an obstruction or an open walkway at the bottom of the stairs. In most cases, this type of lift is selected precisely because customers don't want the chair parked at the bottom. However, we do understand that some customers prefer not to run the chair back up to the top every time. An easy fix for the beeping is to simply flip the large white switch on the back of the carriage (the round white piece that your chair sits on). Turning this off will save the batteries (though they won't be charging) and silence the beeping, until you turn the lift back on. We don't recommend doing this too often or leaving the chair off of the charge point for an extended period of time, but this option is certainly available to you. We hope this helps! Sincerely, The Stannah Team
