We bought 3 collars and here is my take: I really like the ability to set up and save multiple boundaries, the tracking option which notifies if your dog has escaped and help find them. My issue has been that one of the original collars stopped working within a month. The customer support team was very helpful and replaced it with a “refurbished” collar, which stopped taking a charge after 2 weeks. The buckles are also very flimsy and break fairly easily. We only use the the collars for 3 months out of the year, when we are Maine and have replaced 4 buckles. Overall, I am not sure they are worth the money.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such thoughtful feedback about your experience with SpotOn. We're glad to hear you appreciate the flexibility of creating multiple fences and the added peace of mind our tracking features provide. We're sorry, however, that you've experienced repeated issues with charging, collar replacements, and broken buckles. We understand how disappointing this must be, especially after investing in three collars. While we're pleased our Support team was helpful, we recognize that the ongoing reliability concerns have affected your overall experience. We truly value your feedback and would appreciate the opportunity to review these issues further. Please contact our Support team at [email protected], available seven days a week, or call 603-488-1504, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 12 PM Eastern Time. We'd be happy to help explore a resolution.

Nice when connected and the boundary works well. However it takes a bit to connect once off the charger. I feel as if you have to hold down on the power button to sync and then connect. Maybe I’m used to instant gratification but I don’t like that I have to keep connecting to the app and fence every time after I charge. I don’t have time for that.

Thank you for sharing your experience! We're glad to hear the fence is working well, but we understand how frustrating it can be to reconnect after charging. Once powered on and connected to GPS, the collar should resume containment using your previously selected fence without requiring you to reconnect to the app each time. You only need to connect Bluetooth when changing your fence or collar settings, not for everyday containment. Bluetooth has a 30-foot radius, and if you or the dog walk away, the unit will disconnect, and you will need to reconnect when you're close by to change the fence or settings. If you're experiencing delays or having to manually reactivate your fence after charging, please reach out to our Support team at [email protected] or call 603-488-1504. We'd be happy to help troubleshoot and make your experience easier!

we are in a rural property, wooded, and the real time display of where our dogs are works some of the time. not all of the time. could be the dense leaf cover or dodgy cell phone coverage contributing to the dysfunction.
Response from SpotOn FenceOct 14, 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience! We understand how important reliable tracking is, especially when your dogs are exploring a large, wooded property. SpotOn uses GPS satellites to determine your dogs' locations, while the optional cellular subscription allows that location information to be communicated to your phone. For real-time tracking to work consistently, both the collar and your phone must maintain a reliable cellular connection. In rural areas, cellular coverage can vary, and dense tree cover or terrain may further affect signal availability. When the connection is weak or interrupted, location updates may be delayed or temporarily unavailable until communication is restored. It's also important to note that cellular connectivity does not affect GPS containment, so your dogs' fences can continue functioning without cellular service. We'd be happy to review your collars' tracking performance and help determine whether there are ways to improve your experience. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our Support team for assistance!

I have two dogs, each with a collar. They go in and out at the same time and never cross the boundary. However, one collar has a good charge at the end of the day and the other is at 10% or below. Bothe are charged over night at the same time. I even switched collars on the dogs with same result. I sent information to customer service and they kept saying it was because of the dogs are acting differently. Nope. So 3 stars.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We're sorry to hear about the significant difference in battery life between your two collars, especially after you've taken the time to compare their performance and switch them between your dogs. Battery life can vary based on several factors, including activity levels, GPS conditions, collar settings, and terrain. However, we understand your concern given the consistent difference you've observed between the two units. After reviewing your previous interactions with our Support team, we see you chatted with an agent on September 16. During that conversation, our team requested an email address so we could follow up and request photos of the collar to help us investigate further and continue troubleshooting. Unfortunately, we haven't received a response to that request, so we haven't yet been able to complete the troubleshooting process. We'd welcome the opportunity to pick up where we left off, review the information you've already provided, and determine what may be contributing to the difference in battery performance. Please reach out so we can continue assisting you. Our Support team is available by email at [email protected], seven days a week, or by phone at 603-488-1504, Monday through Friday, 8 AM–5 PM, and Saturday, 9 AM–12 PM Eastern Time. We look forward to hearing from you and working toward a resolution!

I do like the ability to create multiple boundaries ser # 538733 BUT! he has gotten corrections while inside the house, inside the shop (zones ) when 40 - 50 feet from the boundary. I did call and email customer service and gave them the requested info but the ball was dropped. I got an email stating the issue was solved, Also, the refer a friend has no method to track if my fiends have purchased.(according to your customer service). Out of 12 people that I have referred , none have purchased?
Response from SpotOn FenceOct 13, 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience. We're glad you appreciate the flexibility of creating multiple fences, but we're sorry to hear about the unexpected corrections and your experience with our Support team. GPS signals can be affected by nearby structures, particularly indoors, where signals may be obstructed or reflected. While Home Zones are designed to reduce unexpected corrections in these areas, we'd appreciate the chance to review your setup and better understand what happened. Regarding your previous Support request, tickets automatically close after two days without a response. However, you can reply directly to the original email at any time, and your ticket will automatically reopen so our team can continue assisting you. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the referral program and understand your interest in tracking the referrals you've made. We'll look into your concerns and forward your feedback to the appropriate team for further review. Our Support team is available by email at [email protected] seven days a week, or by phone at 603-488-1504, Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM and Saturday, 9 AM–12 PM Eastern Time. We'd welcome the opportunity to revisit your concerns and work toward a resolution for you and your dog.

Always resetting the unit.
Response from SpotOn FenceOct 13, 2026
The SpotOn collar should not need to be reset daily. If you are having issues with the collar staying connected to satilites or cellular service, please contact support so we can look into it and provide troubleshooting steps. You can reach the team by email at [email protected] or call 603-488-1504 M-F from 8 am to 5 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 12 pm EST. We look forward to hearing from you and helping to resolve any issues you may be facing.

Seems to time out and say it needs an update without giving us notice. Also if she breeches it doesn’t notify or anything. Wondering if we need to pay the monthly fee to get better service?
Response from SpotOn FenceOct 8, 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve encountered with updates and notifications. To clarify, SpotOn uses GPS satellites for containment, so a cellular subscription is not required for your dog’s fence to function. However, the optional cellular subscription is needed for features such as escape notifications and real-time tracking. Both the collar and your phone must also maintain a reliable cellular connection for these features to work consistently. We’d be happy to take a closer look at the update messages you’re receiving and help determine whether everything is functioning as expected. Please reach out to our Support team so we can assist!
