Boundaries Move, Satellite Very Out of Date
We bought a large wooded property 3 years ago, made a clearing and a driveway in the property and built a house on the property that is still not reflected on the satellite image making it VERY challenging to draw a boundary. Even in forest mode, the boundary lines change so substantially that the dog gets alerted when she is in a perfectly safe area. The collar seems to have negative reaction around our metal roof and other things that set it off, utterly confusing the dog who has a general idea of the boundaries. If the collar is not on the charger inside, it also goes off.
Response from SpotOn FenceOct 21, 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience. We're sorry to hear about the challenges you've had creating your fence and the unexpected alerts your dog has received. We understand how frustrating and confusing this can be, especially after the work you've put into establishing a safe boundary. The satellite imagery in our app comes from Google Maps, and unfortunately, we cannot control when those images are updated. You can contact Google Maps to request an imagery update. In the meantime, we recommend walking your fence boundary rather than drawing it in the app, as this can help improve accuracy when creating your fence. Metal roofing and other structures can also interfere with GPS signals, which may cause unexpected alerts. We'd appreciate the opportunity to review your fence setup and help address these concerns. Please contact our Support team at [email protected], available seven days a week, or call 603-488-1504, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 12 PM Eastern Time. We're happy to help!
