Extremely Disappointed – Over $2000 Spent and Nothing Works
We were really hopeful about the SpotOn collars when we first bought them. They worked decently on our original property, but after moving to a place with weaker cell coverage, the collars became completely unreliable. We reached out to support to see if we could switch the collars to a different carrier, but were told the only option was to buy brand new collars—after we had already spent over $2,000. At this point, the collars don’t notify us of anything. The only thing they’re still “good” for is our dogs associating the collar with a boundary—even though the boundary itself no longer functions. One of the collars even split at the seam, and that was on our older dog who just lays around all day. SpotOn said the damage wasn’t covered under warranty and again suggested we purchase new ones. On top of that, both charging cords have broken. The worst part? The collars randomly correct our dogs even when they’re within the boundaries. We’ve done all the troubleshooting with SpotOn, and nothing changes. The collars just don’t work. After only a little over a year, both collars are now completely unusable. I read so many glowing reviews before purchasing and truly wanted these to be the solution for us—but they’ve been a massive disappointment. I would never recommend SpotOn to anyone.

Hello Harley - This certainly sounds frustrating, but I think some troubleshooting with management, and a level-set about tracking capabilities could be helpful. In areas with weak cellular coverage, tracking is not recommended, regardless of the carrier. You can use SpotOn without tracking to create virtual fences. The collar itself connects to GPS satellites to power your fence; it just won't send notifications back to your phone, since that functionality requires cellular. For corrections within the fence, that's something we can definitely troubleshoot. If your fence is too small (we recommend a 1/2 acre+), or if you have structures with metal roofs or siding, there could be some interference. We do property evaluations to talk through all of these options, both with customers and those who are curious. We offer free 1x accident forgiveness for collars as part of our one year warranty. We've requested more information so we can take a closer look at your eligibility. Once you reply back with your contact info, we can dive deeper. Looking forward to hearing back from you.
