This was a great product and did the job. Simple to use. Great support and streamlined app. Ultimately, however, we did not keep it. We have 2 full-time outdoor dogs on ten acres that require continuous monitoring. We did not anticipate the 24-30 battery life that requires 1-2 hrs of charging pretty much daily. This presented a challenge, particularly when someone would stop in for checking dogs while we were away. If this system had a second battery or collar to change out….it would be worth the price, but the reality just didn’t justify it for us. I hope it is something that Spot-On considers and addresses very soon.

I love the concept of the collar - not having to bury wire in the ground, it’s portable, don’t get penalized for returning to their area after breaking out. What I don’t like is that the perimeter does float quite a bit throughout the day. So much so that I have several versions of the fence and have to change them up. Also I wish the collar had a light on consistently to let you know it’s active. It took our pup a little bit to learn the boundaries but she is doing good on it. We have lots of deer, squirrels, wildlife in our yard and despite her desire to chase them she will run full tilt at them and stop at the edge. Out front towards the road is my concern she weighs the risk and reward when people are walking by or across the street - we live on a fast road and my biggest fear is her taking off after humans because she loves to see people. I don’t trust her enough to be outside alone - we have had it for about 3+months she just turned 9months this week. We are working on impulse control but with the fence perimeter shifting (more than 10’) I am really concerned about her not understanding how it changes and bolting through. I do think in time she will do well with it - certainly cheaper to than a fence and keeps the open look which is nice.

I do love the collar, and I'm glad to have it. Our experience has been great. Our dog has adapted very easily to the collar and it has taken a huge load of worry off shoulders. It has give our dog more room to roam, and in turn has made him a happier dog and us happier owners. I would however like to see some changes. 1. The ligh is pointless, just remove the option or put a brighter LED in there. You just can't see it in the real world. 2. The correction tone, could be louder. If you can't see you dog, the tone would be nice to hear. 3. For the money....A nicer collar with a metal (easier) clamp or buckle would be a really good item to have.

So far so good… The updates are helpful. The dogs have gotten used to their boundaries.

What's great is that it works for what it is made to do unlike petsafe guardian. I really wouldn't change much, but there are a couple of things. First, be able to cut it off with an easy push of the button, a blink of a red light, and a positive sound that it did cut off. Same for turning it on. I like that it automatically turns on when it's removed from the base, but if you them travel it starts tracking and hours later when we get to our other place the battery is drained down or you grab it and it static corrects on wakeup, which, can be quite amusing. If you know, you know. We've gotten our dog so well trained to the sound that we use it when traveling around to stiffener campgrounds, but sometimes the sound just isn't that loud. Also, it would be nice to be able to activate a brighter light to see the pup at night. I haven't been able to train her with the whistle function. I know he hearing is better than mine, but if I can't hear it then I can't train her with it. I've listed some gripps, but overall this collar has been a great addition. We have four properties we travel around to regularly and Jojo truly lives life unleashed for the most part because this thing does its job so well. Even while hiking she is great and I'll put in a large temp map as a big of piece of mind for the wife. Worth the money right there alone. I would highly recommend it to those who have dogs that are not crazy chasers and are somewhat trained or trainable. It's a game changer for us. Literally, we can show up in the middle of nowhere, I'll make a map, and Jojo will go do her thing and if it beeps she goes back towards where she came from and then continues on learning her new boundary all by herself. It's really amazing to watch her do it. Just remember to take it off of them before driving off across a boundary.

80% of the time, the system works wonderfully. There are however many times where the tracking feature will not work while both collar and phone show full satellite connection and service. There have been a couple time where the dog has been in a home zone and still been randomly static corrected. Also on several instances I have watched my dog leave the fence with no static correction.

It has been great for keeping Abby off the busy hwy near my house. She has never stepped foot on it once.Had a few issues with home zone but now have that worked out. Abby just turned 6 months old and isfully trained on the collar. I can make a fence about anywhere and she respects it. Used light static and she quickly learned to stop no matter where shes at. I turned it off for a while but have it back on set on 8 just for the road purpose although even with tempting distractions on and across rd, she hasnt ever tested going past her spot. She will sit at line and just stare at deer,squirrels,rabbits and even the nieghbor who she just loves. When she sees him coming to visit she sits there and waits for him. I would recommend the system to anyone. Even have a fence set a my folks house who live in a duplex in town and at folks house that watch her for me occasionally. The customer service is also great if needed.

First - we love this system! We have four German Shepherds and we have not had any problems. The reasons I knocked a star off is because 1. Cheap plastic clip. The clip is difficult to unbuckle for us ladies that have nails and don't want to break our nails. 2. The little charging units the collar is docked on for charging are cheap and horribly lightweight requiring use of both hands to remove collar from dock. A better weighted option should at least be offered as a side purchase to be able to remove collar from charging dock with one hand. 3. Do not like the fact that there are no batteries. Should the battery go bad it can't be replaced - a new collar would have to be purchased. At the price of these collars a way to replace the chargeable battery should be offered. Time will tell on how long these collars will last and will dictate if I continue use afterwards (if I have to buy 4 new collars that would be a no). 4. No different color options. With four dogs - we had to come up with a way to differentiate which collar went to which dog. Color options of some sort would help with multiple dog households. Final comments - the performance of this system is amazing. We are happy despite the above 4 areas and if those areas are addressed then we will bump up to 5 stars and be lifelong customers!
