​The QUIET BATT™ SOUNDPROOFING INSULATION (recycled blue jeans) worked well in my old house application. I left it exposed, using the QUIET BATT™ INSULATION SUPPORTS (16 IN) to achieve a quilted effect. At 3 inches, it pretty much disappeared between the joist, but looks good enough not to draw attention if someone does look up. And it KILLS sound and echoes. One installation note: Yes the fibers that it sheds are not as dangerous spun glass, but it does shed tons of small cotton fibers. My shop vac filter had the biggest dryer ball of lint I've ever seen. And I was tinged blue until I showered. So to save wear and tear on your respiratory system, wear at least a nuisance mask. Eye protection is a good idea if working overhead.

I used to cover the door between the upstairs apartment and mine. I live under the loud family. The noise has decreased a lot. Not 100% but so much better. I highly recommend.

Love this product, it works

This is my second application of Quiet Barrier™ MD Soundproofing Composite (w/PSA) - it is fabulous!!!!! I use this between doors to a small rental studio in my house. It works perfectly - better than anything I've tried. It's not cheap, but worth every penny!!!!

stuff works on pipes to help with vibration out of cistern pump. Ended up insulating between the studs to contain the sound. The combination of the two did the job.
