I had a great experience. I found Skin Spa through a Groupon deal. I had a Brazilian wax and it was practically pain free. I was able to go on my lunch hour and was done in a minimal amount of time. The only disconcerning part was their special packages pricing for future appointments was only good for that day. So you will have to pay full price which is quite pricey. But the service there was excellent. If it wasn't for the prices I would be a regular there.

I used to do hair so I understand that everyone can have an off day, but this was not my favorite. I have come to skin spa before but only for waxing. It was my birthday and I wanted to treat myself to a facial. I am 41 and look 29 so I love my skin and take good care of it- but it was getting really dry and my at home facials didn't seem to be doing enough. So when I got my 20% off for my birthday I figured why not! First, I called to ask what facial was recommended because I have sensitive skin and the receptionist told me the customized facial so that the esthetician could look at my skin and work from there. I was looking forward to a relaxing nice facial and what I got was a little more than something I could have done (and do) at home. I let the her know that I had been at the beach the previous weekend for my birthday and got a little sunburned, I felt that my face was really dry. She then told me I should get an oxy trio which I said ok, but then she said that was not a facial and that the facial was extra. So after some confusion- I decided to go with the "customized" facial. The esthetician told me 3 times ,my skin was dry and I said I know that is why I came in for a facial. Then asked me repeatedly if I drink water- which I repeatedly answered that I did- to which she said I don't think so and continued to ask if I drink a lot of coffee or tea- I said no I really only drink water I don't even drink caffeine. Honestly, at this point I wasn't even relaxed. She said I had hyper-pigmentation which I get ever summer from the sun- because of my sensitive skin- she said it was probably hormonal, and I said no I get it every summer, I spent the previous weekend at the beach. This was little more than a home facial, wash , exfoliate, the extractions I guess but I don't really have anything to extract so that was like 2 min, and a very quick face massage and mask...took 40 minutes which was supposed to be 50 according to the website. My skin did not feel refreshed, it did not look refreshed, and I was not relaxed. I have never received a facial in New York - where I left looking not even as good as when I wash my face at home. I still tipped, it wasn't the worst, but it definitely wasn't my favorite, I was really disappointed in the massage part- that is my favorite part.....I also am sad I didn't feel Zen like I normally do. If you do not have a regular face regimen at home maybe this facial would be for you - but unless it is I guess loaded up with additional items -it is little more than an at home facial. This is for Skin Spa at 57th Street. And yes, only one star as described, UNACCEPTABLE, UNREASONABLE, AND RUDE service, TOTALLY!!! Don't go there if you want to save money and keep a good mood for a day. Receptionist who communicated with me via phones made no sense at all.

It was my first time at Skin Spa and I've already booked my next two sessions - loved the team!

Let's face it.. Brazilian bikini wax is NEVER painless. I dread it but ALWAYS love the outcome!! The staff at Skin Spa New York are very pleasant and inviting. They make you feel at ease and prepare you for the pain. If you go to the location on 57th, I recommend Teuta. She's extremely friendly and does a fantastic job.
