Sold a blown HomePod as a working product — refused any refund
Won a ShopGoodwill auction Oct 7, 2026 for a first-gen Apple HomePod (item 278956719, Goodwill of Central Texas) — $100. Listed as "Good" condition, "powers on," factory reset, presented like a working used speaker. It arrived with a blown speaker: it powers on, but the audio is garbage — the one thing a speaker exists to do, it can't. I contacted ShopGoodwill customer service about a return or refund and they refused to take it back. Out $100 for a paperweight. "Powers on" is not the same as "works." Buy electronics here at your own risk.

GOODWILL a bunch of liars
GOODWILL a bunch of liars. They claim to help people. In the end that’s a bold face lie! Their associates are rude and not helpful. You pay about 20% in shipping so watch out! They will ban you if your items are unpaid. They will lock you out if you dare to make another account, which I did not. But share an internet with someone who is. They assume instead of asking. I’ve spent crazy money. I won’t be supporting this organization any longer! I urge you to do the same. I have an entire laundry list of things that deserve 0 stars! To get a hold of anyone to help is horrible! Don’t waste your time, energy, or money!

Not only do they price gouge donated…
Not only do they price gouge donated items (the corporate greed is disgusting) but their site constantly lags, signs you out, won’t let you bid. The end all their auctions around the same time and the server can’t keep up. It’s a pathetic site.

Absolutely Inconsiderate
Absolutely horrible, inconsiderate, and lazy- customer service coming from ‘ShopGoodwill E-commerce’ in Beaverton Oregon. Despite explaining prior, my payment would be *1 day late* due to waiting for a replacement card to come in the mail, they block me from making the payment, or making future ‘Bids’. ‘No further follow up is necessary’- is all they said. Despite multiple calls, they also do not call Customers back, even though it says on their message box that they do. So much for any, ‘Good Will’, I assume they are too busy watching Tick Tok to bother with anything else?

Goodwill sucks
Read all the reviews. They do not lie. Broken earrings sent in a smashed box. No response. Cheaper to buy on Amazon or ebay. At least you can return it.

Overpriced items
Overpriced items, unfair bans, and nonexistent customer support
ShopGoodwill has become completely unusable. The bidding prices are incredibly inflated, often higher than retail, and yet the items arrive dirty or completely non-functional despite how they were listed. You end up paying more than you would for a brand-new item, or something on eBay, Mercari, or Facebook Marketplace that actually includes buyer protection.
To make matters worse, I was abruptly banned for no reason despite always paying for my items on time. When I tried to appeal the ban, I was hit with a generic, copy-and-paste rejection. When I replied to explain my case, they just sent another automated template stating that I was banned and that they would enter "no further discussion." They hide behind arbitrary disclaimers to sell junk, offer zero buyer protection, and treat paying customers like garbage. Save your money and shop elsewhere.

I'd give 0 if it was possible
I'd give 0 if it was possible. Yet another update catastrophe. All my saved searches no longer work. Likely another effort to throw more adds at viewers and further line the extremely deep pockets of the executives. See below to see who is stealing the good efforts of a "charitable" organization..
The International CEO Salary
Steven C. Preston, the President and CEO of the umbrella organization Goodwill Industries International (GII), receives a total compensation package of approximately $715,528 to $724,605.
(Note: Viral social media rumors claiming the CEO is a man named "Mark Curran" who makes $2.3 million a year are entirely false—Curran does not exist).
Regional CEO and Executive Compensation
Because regional chapters operate independently, executive pay scales correspond with regional revenue:
• Large Metropolitan / High-Revenue Chapters: CEOs overseeing the largest Goodwill regions (such as Central Arizona, Southern California, or North Georgia) command compensation ranging from $405,000 to over $960,000 annually, with the average sitting around $670,000 to $700,000. In rare outlier cases involving long-serving executives, deferred compensation, or retirement packages, total single-year payouts have reached $1.1 million to $1.7 million.
• Mid-Sized and Smaller Chapters: CEOs running smaller regional footprints typically earn between $180,000 and $400,000.
• Other C-Suite Executives: Chief Operating Officers (COOs), Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), and Vice Presidents at large regional chapters typically earn between $250,000 and $550,000 depending on the agency's size.
How This Compares to Other Nonprofits
Goodwill organizations collectively generate over $7 billion to $8 billion in revenue, primarily fueled by their massive retail thrift operation. When compared to other major national charities, their executive pay structures are generally inline with market standards for organizations of similar financial scale:
Organization Executive Role Approximate Annual Compensation
United Way Worldwide CEO $1,000,000+
American Red Cross CEO ~$700,000
Goodwill Industries International CEO ~$715,000 to $725,000
Salvation Army National Commander ~$150,000 (lower due to religious officer structure)
