I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Ship A Car Direct and their carrier, KG Group that left me with a damaged car and costly repairs (not to mention other logistical hassles due to the car being picked up two weeks after the dates for which it was initially scheduled). I shipped my car from Southern California to Upstate New York and the car arrived with four, large, very noticeable scratches where the paint had been scraped off to the roof, just above the windshield. Upon delivery the carrier tried to tell me the damage had been done prior to pickup and put the blame on me (it hadn't, and both the carrier's photos and my own personal photos confirmed this). When I noticed the damage at delivery, I immediately called Lottie--my contact at Ship A Car, to inform her of it and voice my hesitations around paying the carrier until I received assurance that the repairs would be covered by Ship A Car and/or their carrier, KG Group. Between Ship A Car's "Damage Free Guarantee" and Lottie's assurance that the damage would be covered by Ship A Car and/or the carrier, I chose to have faith that they would do right by their customer and resolve the issue. However, that wasn't what happened. The carrier, KG Group, refused to take responsibility for the damage and Ship A Car refused to take accountability for the misdoings of their carriers, leaving me with the burden of paying for the bulk of the repairs (As it turn out, Ship A Car's "damage free guarantee" is only up to $500, so while this covered a portion of the repairs, the remaining ~$720 is being left to me as the carrier refuses to cover anything). The whole experience has been incredibly frustrating and inconvenient—and this isn’t even including the inconveniences I had surrounding pick up and delivery. I’d highly advise against using Ship A Car Direct for anyone considering—I deeply regret having selected them to ship my car and wish I had gone with Montway, even though their prices were slightly higher.

Hi Ali, Thank you for your detailed feedback. I genuinely apologize for the disappointing experience you had with Ship A Car Direct and our carrier, KG Group. I understand how frustrating and inconvenient it must have been to deal with the damage to your car and the delays in pickup. Regarding the damage to your vehicle, our aim is always to ensure a smooth and satisfactory resolution for our customers. While it is unfortunate that KG Group disputed the damage, I want to emphasize that our "Damage Free Guarantee" is specifically designed to protect customers in such scenarios. Typically, no other company would likely have stepped in and paid for the damage when the carrier was disputing responsibility. Our commitment to you meant that we covered $500 towards your repair costs through our Damage Free Guarantee. When repair costs exceed $500, this amount is intended to cover your insurance deductible, enabling you to have the repairs performed through your insurance without any out-of-pocket expenses. That said, we are constantly striving to improve our services, and your feedback is invaluable in helping us do so. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and I hope we can find a way to restore your confidence in our services. If there's anything more we can do to assist you, please let us know.

As a snowbird, I have my car shipped to/from FL/IL annually. In January, the pick up timing was fine (other than an extremely rude driver), but the car was delivered in FL 2 days before I arrived (which I was told would NOT happen). I had to scramble to find somewhere to accept the car. I did receive a small refund for my difficulties. In April, I had very little notice for pickup. The driver arrived with a pick up truck towing 3 trailer bays. What? He did not speak a word of English. And Oops... my car didn't fit so he left. I contacted my salesperson, Scott, and the 800 number which is worthless. Nothing was done. Now I'm in a rush to get the car picked up before I leave in 2 days. I have had 2 concurrent bad experiences with Ship a Car Direct. It seems they do no quality control on the drivers/carriers, do not respect the customer's time frames, and are not helpful when problems do arise - you're kind of left on your own. Like someone else said, use Montway. They may cost a little more, but they're a much higher quality operation.

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me over the phone about your recent experiences with us. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration on your orders with us in both January and April. Regarding your January order, we are very sorry that the carrier tried to deliver earlier than expected, despite instructions not to do so, causing you undue stress. As discussed, we have refunded the remaining amount you paid for that shipment, as we believe you should not have to pay for a service that did not meet your expectations. As for your April shipment, I am extremely disappointed that the carrier showed up with a trailer that did not have enough room for your vehicle. This is unacceptable, and the carrier should have known better. Based on your valuable feedback, we have decided to remove this carrier from our list to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future. Once again, I want to say thank you for your feedback. It is through constructive criticism from valued customers like you that we are able to identify areas for improvement and grow as a company. I wish you the best of luck on your move, and if you need anything in the future you can reach out to me directly. Alex

I hope this review can be beneficial for others who are considering this company for their transportation needs. My strong suggestion is to go with Montway or Sherpa. Should you decide to go with this company, make sure to inquire about the transport provider they will use. If its Highline Auto Transport LLC, avoid this at all cost. Their preference is to communicate via text rather than phone calls. Contacting the driver is an impossible task. Once you establish contact with their dispatch unit, they require you to handle the task of reaching out to the driver and organizing the timetable. They never know where the driver is and expect you find out for yourself. The condition of their trucks is absolutely awful. The lift gate, remotes, storage, are all in poor condition with wiring exposed. Those vehicles are in desperate need of major repairs. Their tone is unacceptable and lacks professionalism due to their arrogance. This brings me back to Ship-a-car-direct. They promise to thoroughly inspect the shippers so you can be worry-free. Based on the factors mentioned above, no reputable company would risk hiring this transport company. To get more proof, check their record on the Better Business Bureau. My intention is not to intentionally damage the reputation of these companies; I simply want to encourage future customers to reconsider their shipping requirements, especially if they own a luxury vehicle. After I went to meet the driver and collect my vehicle myself, they decided to reimburse me a paltry $100. Avoid at all cost. Updated : 4-29-24 I would also like to take a moment and update my review. Alex has since called me, and we had a discussion about my experience. It says a lot about the company, and their attempt to uphold the standards they set forth. While my personal experience wasn’t satisfactory, I do appreciate a company reaching out and attempting to rectify the situation. I do believe a second chance is warranted since they equally went through a bad experience. I appreciated the refund, but more importantly, I appreciated the willingness to listen. I will reconsider future transportion needs.

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the conversation we had regarding your recent experience with us and Highline Auto Transport LLC. Your feedback is invaluable to us as we continuously work to improve our services and ensure that our customers receive the highest level of care and satisfaction. As discussed during our call, I deeply regret the inconvenience and frustration you experienced throughout the transportation process. We have taken your concerns seriously and have removed Highline Auto Transport LLC from our list of trusted carriers. Their conduct and the condition of their equipment are unacceptable and do not meet the standards we set for our partners. As promised, we have processed a full refund of the remaining amount you paid us. We believe that you should not have to pay for a service that failed to meet your expectations, and we are committed to making things right. Your review serves as a reminder of the importance of thoroughly vetting our carriers and maintaining open lines of communication with our customers. We will be using your feedback to review and improve our processes, ensuring that future customers receive the seamless and stress-free shipping experience they deserve. (Keep in mind, if you do choose to go with Montway or Sherpa, they still use Highline Auto Transport – so make sure to just ask them not to book that carrier for you.) Once again, thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and for allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns. We value your business and hope to have the chance to serve you better in the future. If there is anything else we can assist you with, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly. Thank you, Alex

Buyer beware........They rope you in then bait and switch. They call you multiple times hit you with multiple emails all looking very professional until you take the bait. Car was supposed to be picked up on 7/17/2023 during normal business hours. Pickup contact receives a call from a third party saying car will be picked up between 9-10 pm. Car was not on the junky trailer until well past 1 am because the junky trailer winch did not work. Called early morning 18th for an update and no one knew anything including original contact (Lottie) want answer her phone or respond to any texts after the sale. Called the customer service number voicemail 3x until someone finally picked up. He said he was very sorry for the problem and someone would get back to me. I finally heard from the receiver of the car that by some miracle the car was delivered, still no word from this company. All in all the worst shipping experience I have ever had. I do many transactions with shipping companies, shipping heavy equipment, large industrial items etc. Steer clear of this company. I asked for a reduced rate and to add insult to injury they overcharged me by $20 saying the quote was only an estimate. Attached is the transport vehicle

This review goes back to a transaction on December 2018. We worked with Jennifer. She was very good. The problem with my car was only determined last year by South Jersey Auto Body. The car, a 2004 Audi S4 was shipped to Philadelphia from Denver by BML Transport LLC. We had a very difficult move and after I picked up the car in Philadelphia and took it to the house we were renting in South Jersey until we could find a home to purchase. It was cold and snowy and after I picked up the car I noticed the front half inch of trim on the drivers side door broke off when I opened the door. I was bummed out but I didn't think much about it. I had to much going on. I than noticed ice building up inside the car on the running boards on all four doors. I thought a door seal might be bad but this car had never leaked since I owned it and certainly not on all four doors leaking. I had to buy a car cover to keep the water out. I did not no what was happening and was really upset. It was finally determined later that the door frames had been severely overstressed in transport. The transport guy had actually tightened the chains to much. That's what shoved the door panel trim forward and caused all four door seals to not seal up. It took me a long time to save up for this automobile and it was never the same. I understand too much time has gone by for any recourse. However I trusted Ship A Car Direct to take care of my car and they failed. I didn't have a reference number so I included the quote number if anybody cares. Thank you.

Hi Mike, We're very sorry to hear about this 4 years later as we were under the impression everything was okay with your order. From our experience, the chains are used on the bottom of the car and the wheels so it would not effect the doors at all. If this was brought to our attention when this happened we may have been able to help you, but it's too long to tell if this was the carrier or not. We apologize again that you had to go through that with your car, and if you want to give us another try in the future we will discount our price as a gesture of good faith.

Absolutely terrible. Had to get my car on side of 6 lane highway, not my home. Testimonial: Initial contract easy, pick up easy. Delivery was a nightmare. Absolutely disgusting. Contract stipulated delivery to my home. Confirmed check was acceptable on delivery. Called that am, told to come get my car. They were on side of Route 2, Annapolis MD, busy 6 lane highway, he told me to walk or ride my bike (???). I was shocked. I have photos to back this all up. Tried to charge me more money. Called Ship A Car when they opened (Saturday)--Brian was useless, and didn't care. I had to wait until 11:00 am for this company to open to tell them what was occurring...Driver is fuming and rude because I won't get car on highway. I told them to bring car to me if it is that easy for me to walk to them. Then company sends me text, no check (they are revoking that payment). Lol..it is Saturday. Banks closed by noon. This went on forever...Driver (Sergio) brings me car to my driveway (as it should have been done in the first place, as I paid for). Payment issue worked out after hours of BS. Sends my receipt to my email. All paid...Sergio will not hand the keys to me...standing in driveway raging. I had to call police to intervene and get my keys...told him multiple times to get off my property..he started filming me...Seriously, you can't make this story up. STAY AWAY FROM ALL OF THEM....terrible. Danny (says he is owner) called to offer me 100.00 credit...really...at this point I've spent 5 hours on a Saturday fighting for my car, that is paid for. I told him keep his 100.00 as that won't prevent me from reviewing his company, which I know he was trying to avoid. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM...DO NOT USE. SERGIO honestly should be in jail for his odd behavior. SHIP A CAR DIDN'T CARE AT ALL. Once they secure your money, they do not CARE WHAT HAPPENS IN TRANSITION. TERRIBLE. I have photos to back up all of my claims..event sent them to SHIP A CAR.

Hi Maddie, I reached out to you via direct message. I’d really like to look into this but I cannot find an order in our system for a Maddie that delivered over the weekend in MD. Please DM me your order ID if you have it. Also, just want to make sure you’re posting your review for the correct company. We are Ship a Car Direct, if you actually worked with Ship a Car Inc or Ship your Car Now, those are different companies and we have no association with them. But getting that order ID will help us find your info so that we can make things right if you were set up with this awful carrier through us. - Michael
