If you live outside USA; please avoid Selkie. It is so sad that their customer service is so horrible, with such beautiful dresses. I am a plus size lady, and because of the reviews I decided to order 2 dresses in different sizes, to see which one was better for my wedding in UK. Well, you have to pay a lot for delivery and a lot for taxes, and then you have to pay the same amount to take the dress back to USA. The dress arrived to them via DHL, and they took 9 business days to even confirm they got it. Imagine that, such an expensive dress lost-not confirmed by their team. I sent approximately 10 emails, 20 instagram messages, comments on their posts, SMS messages... I even bought an USA number, to be able to freely messaged them (as I was spending a lot on roaming). On the 10th business day they finally messaged me back saying they got the dress, and they will process my return. Haven't received the money back but I want to trust them, one last time. Lots of stress. I don´t think I would put myself into that again. PLEASE AVOID IF YOU CAN!

I bought the Belle Etoile pattern puff dress on final sale for $250 and it came with the pattern 3/4" off center. Their customer service response was that it was "unique". No wonder it was final sale; they were getting rid of the dresses people couldn't wear because the pattern ended up in a position where it looks like a cheap mistake. Also, none of their dresses have pockets! What kind of high end, high cost dress doesn't have pockets?! I will say I also bought the caviar marie dress and the fit is lovely... But I also bought the bridge marie gown and the fabric is stiff and cheap-feeling and the fit isn't good or flattering even though it is the same size as the other dresses. I might have watched for further sales anyway because the dresses are just so cute in pictures but that customer service response sealed the deal and I won't be buying anything from them again. I can't imagine the gall of selling someone an unwearable dress for $250 and justifying it with "We are conscious of our fabric consumption and eliminate waste whenever possible by avoiding cutting prints for specific placements". Ummm.. ok but people still expect to buy a wearable dress! lol

I paid £200+ AS WELL AS £75 customs fees for the Rainbow Sequin Puff dress, and it comes looking like something out of Shein. The dress is advertised as opaque with pastel sequins. My dress came completely see through with bright sequins. It looks completely different to what is advertised. And the real kicker is I used my measurements to find the best size, and it turns out that the dress is way too small! Having come here though, looks like my parcel will probably get "lost" on the way back if i try to return it and I won't be getting my money back - I definitely won't for the customs fees. So disgusted at this brand. Should have just bought a rip off from Shein and saved myself a few hundred. SCAM - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I honestly did not expect to be writing this. I have been following Selkie now for about a year and have always wanted to buy from them. I have had my eye on the Austen Marshmallow puffer for around 3 months and recently purchased it. I was so excited to receive it. However, I wish I hadn’t! First of all, and this is not at all Selfie’s fault, were the import fees. Now, I knew I’d have to pay something towards it being shipped into the UK but £103 was not on my list! I was shocked! I’d already paid £272 for the jacket alone (which i’d also noticed that the item price kept changing on the website!) so I wasn’t very pleased to have to pay this too! I received the item today and oh my gosh the quality! It is so bad! You can honestly tell that the puffer has been returned to Selkie before as it has a mark on one of the bows, the brand label is half ripped out and there is obvious signs on the actual labels which are removed once you’re happy with the product that they have been pulled and crumpled! Do they not check when an item is returned that it is good to send out to another customer? I cannot believe it. The actual quality of the jacket is poor and feels very cheap which I am appalled at. If this was my product that I was selling, this would not be making itself out of the warehouse. I have decided to keep the jacket as I do not wish to have the palava of sending it back to America to then have to pay import fees again to get another one imported! They obviously sent it to me knowing fully well I live in the UK and couldn’t return it without problems! Do not buy from this company! As much as their items look beautiful, it is not worth your money. Trust me. Selkie do better!

That's scammy behavior - a scam. So beware - as you can also become a victim. Now I'm opening up about their capitalist behavior publically and I will also write this exact letter on other platforms. Know yourself, Selkie.

However, when I recently decided to return an item that didn't meet my expectations and sizing, I encountered an unexpected issue. The costs associated with the return were significantly high (above €120,-), and even more disappointing, I was not informed about this beforehand. I understand that every company may have return costs, but transparent communication is crucial. In my case, Selkie had ample opportunity to inform me in advance about the possibility of return costs and the fact that these costs would not be reimbursed. This would have significantly influenced my decision to return the item. I probably wouldn't have gone through with the return had I been aware of these costs or not take the risk at all making the sale. I appreciate the company's response to my concerns, but I hope that Selkie will actively inform its customers about potential return costs and policy changes in the future. Open and transparent communication is vital for building trust between customers and businesses. I hope that situations like these can be avoided in the future through better communication. All in all, I am disappointed by my experience with Selkie. As a prospective customer, I value transparency and honesty, and I hope that Selkie will uphold these values in the future.

My daughter purchased a $350 prom dress about 3 weeks ago. The website says that they could take up to 15 business days to ship - no big deal. Prom is 3 weeks from today, so she messaged them asking for a status update. And they promptly replied that the dress is out of stock. But here is a coupon to buy something else! Ummm - nope. We won’t be spending any more money with you. We are now stuck trying to find a dress with a much shorter lead time than we had before.
