Emailing people to leave reviews for $25 vouchers
I received an email from Selenichast offering me a $25 voucher if I posted a review on Trustpilot and then emailed them a screenshot of my review. I find this practice incredibly off-putting. Offering customers a financial incentive to leave reviews feels like an attempt to increase the number of favourable reviews rather than allowing the company’s Trustpilot rating to develop organically from genuine customer feedback. It’s especially concerning because Trustpilot’s guidelines prohibit businesses from offering incentives in connection with leaving reviews. It’s just not a good look. After receiving an offer like this, I’d personally be wary about how much weight I gave the company’s existing reviews and rating, because I now know customers have been offered something of monetary value for posting reviews. I have reported the email to Trustpilot and provided them with a screenshot of the $25 voucher offer. I think reviews should be earned through good products and customer service — not encouraged with financial rewards.

Hi Rach, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We understand your concerns and appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention. After reviewing our review invitation process, we realized that offering a voucher in connection with submitting a Trustpilot review was not the right approach. Our intention was to thank customers for taking the time to share their experiences, and it was never our intention to influence the content or rating of any review. We fully understand that reviews should always reflect genuine and independent customer experiences. We have already stopped this promotion and are reviewing our review invitation process to ensure it aligns with Trustpilot’s guidelines. We are also providing additional guidance internally to make sure future feedback requests follow the appropriate standards. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and accept your concerns. We apologize for the impression this may have caused. Regardless of whether any incentive is involved, we will continue working to improve our products and services and provide a better experience for our customers. Thank you again for helping us identify this issue. Best wishes, Selenichast Team
