Pet Parents Beware
I think one star is generous. I booked a Rover for Thanksgiving week and due to the negligence of the sitter, I did not feel safe leaving my dog for the week, so I picked her up within a few hours. The sitter created a situation that made my dog feel threatened and then wanted to relocate my dog to a home and sitter I had not even met. The sitter told me she would refund the cancellation fee if she could. Rover told me the sitter has to approve the refund. The sitter claimed to have requested it but Rover claimed that was not true. I had screenshots of the sitter stating she had tried to request the refund and Rover was not responding. I disputed the fee with my credit card company and the resolution was in Rover’s favor despite the whole issue being caused by the sitter in the first place. At the end of the day, I paid nearly $300 for six hours of inadequate care for my dog and unnecessary stress before a holiday trip. I had used Rover a few times in the past but after this last experience and particularly the way it was handled, I won’t make that mistake again. The fact that Rover took the sitter’s side despite the sitter being the one who caused the unsafe situation in the first place tells me all I need to know about Rover’s priorities and pet parents are not it. I will never use Rover ever again and cannot recommend it to anyone who loves their dogs and cares about their safety and well-being.
