Friendly staff. Room was comfortable and had excellent disabled room (101), This had raised toilet and support bars as did the bath shower. They have others, but check toilet is ok.
Kids stay and eat free but check.
Breakfast good and plenty to eat (£12 if booked but £17 if walk in.
Terrible evening food ! Avoid. I was only able to upload one photo. Supposed to show “ succulent roast chicken” However you can see it has been fried and it was dry. The fish was very dark brown again too long in the fryer. Each around £17 each !! There are eating places around 10/15 minute drive, which we did not know at the time. See photos. Although discretional service charge they take it anyway!
About 10 minutes from Milestone museum of life, great for kids and reflective adults.

Holiday Inn Darlington North
The hotel is well situated if you want a hotel not far off the A1(M) in the Darlington area. Not the most beautiful of places and largely business sites, fast food outlets and filling stations. SatNav and postcode don’t quite get you to the hotel but leave the A1 at Jnc 59, take the A167 North, turn left after the McDonald’s, then next left and follow that road all the way to the end. The hotel could have better signposting.
Arriving at reception to find a barricade of bags and a queue of people waiting to check in is not the best sight to find. I have considerable sympathy with the lone lady who was checking people in, answering lots of questions and generally having to spend quite a while with each guest/family. Amazingly, she remained friendly throughout. A second staff member would have helped although the reception desk is relatively small.
The bedroom was disappointing and not what you used to expect at a Holiday Inn. A water stain on the ceiling does not make things look any better. With every light in the room on it is still very dark with what appear to be low power lights with lampshades which further reduce the light available. The lighting at the desk is not good for working with. The only place with decent lighting was the washbasin which follows the example of cheap US motels of being in the bedroom and not in the bathroom which has only about a 3-foot gap between the toilet and the shower door. This is flimsy but seems to keep most of the water in the shower. Like most hotels now, soap and shampoo is from bottles with a push nozzle dispenser. The bottles are secured in heavy duty steel frames with Torx “tamper proof” screws. The top of the bottle is very close to the frame so not ideal for easy or drip free use.
A few years ago, Holiday Inn was one of the best hotels for having comfortable pillows. Not here. The mattress was also not the most comfortable. Combine this with a room that was too hot although the website claims that there is air conditioning. If there is it is totally ineffective as even with the temperature set to 10C I had to keep the windows open day and night and did not sleep well. A fan and an oil filled electric heater were in the room which, along with previous reviews, suggests that temperature control is an issue. Any positives? The water was hot and the room was superficially acceptably clean.
For the first breakfast, there were about 6 hotel guests already there almost 10 minutes before breakfast was due to start but absolutely everything was ready and waiting. The food was average plus for a Holiday Inn with a good selection of hot options as well as cold meats, fresh fruit salads, fruit and pastries. On the second morning 10 minutes after the time that breakfast was due to start hardly any food was out for waiting guests. By 25 minutes after the supposed start time some of the expected food was still not out of the kitchen. What a difference between 2 days.
The hotel has an EV charging point in the car park but if you have an EV make sure that you have a good charge when you get there as the charging point has a hand written notice on it saying that it is not working.
All the staff that I spoke with were friendly and trying to be helpful.
Would I stay there again? No. Not when there is a better Holiday Inn 15 minutes drive down the A1.

Appalling service at Holiday Inn jn18 M1 Crick
As an Elite Member of IHG I recently booked to stay at Holiday Inn off M1 jn18 (Crick) - arrived to find they had no room for me - The person at Holiday Inn just shrugged their shoulders and said it is just what it is - they dispatched me to another hotel not in the IHG group - the other hotel had no food available & I was charged for the stay.
When I finally got to my room in the other hotel it was around 10pm - I had an important mtg the next day - so not good preparation!
I used the IHG app to post feedback & complaint - the person responding took all the details and promised to get a formal response within 48hrs. 6 days later there was no feedback so I contacted IHG again through the app- after having to provide all the details again even when I provided the reference they gave me 6 days earlier I was simply told to call the hotel to speak to a manager but had to wait on the guest line.
So really abject failure by the hotel at Crick and by the ‘contact us’ part of the App - I suggest ‘to anyone’ do not stay at this hotel - tbh my experience at other IHG hotels has been much better it’s just this particular hotel (jn18 M1 Crick) which has appalling service - won’t be staying there again!
Still awaiting their response through my requests on the app ‘contact us’ facility - so that doesn’t work either!

Holiday Inn Bolton
Holiday Inn Bolton. Room OK but dinner a nightmare on all 3 days. Had to wait 1/2 between courses and when food did arrive it was cold every day!!! Stroganoff was awful, full of fatty gristle, couldn't eat it. WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN

We had 1 hrs for lunch Friday 23rd…
We had 1 hrs for lunch Friday 23rd August in Sunderland and ordered a simple Egg Mayo sandwich and Chips + Onion rings. After 50 mins the food had still not arrived. When asking the Operations manager he stated 2 trainee chefs were in the kitchen. We had not ordered a meal, simple snacks for speed. Far from speed we were then told that a "chef" was making the batter for the onion rings and would be a further 10 mins. We needed to get back to the Magistrates Court for the afternoon. They proceeded to struggle to give a refund on Mastercard at this point we left extremely annoyed and disappointed. Very poor, we could have walked for 5 mins and been served within 10 mins of placing the order. Holiday Inn was absolutely pathetic and as it's not cheap at all we vowed to never go again. Extremely disappointed and terrible service

Birthday
I stopped at the hotel to use the loo as we were driving through Edinburgh to get to our hotel. The receptionist was understanding and I looked around and thought we could stop for coffee. It was quite impressive so decided to stay for something to eat. We ordered a curry for my partner and beef dinner for myself. It was delicious and ordered pudding 🍮 well I forgot I told the receptionist it was my birthday. The staff Alisha and the waitresses came in with a lighted candle in my pud. Embarrassed I loved it. It's the little details that make the day special. Loved it.

Great breakfast at the Holiday Inn High Wycombe
We stayed at the Holiday inn, High Wycombe for 2 nights as part of our Legoland day out. Lovely place, very clean and bright looking and the staff were no nice. The food was great with great attention paid to my gandaughters nut allergy, lots of checks done for which we were very grateful. An extra bed was found for my room straight away because of legoland bookings mistake, it was brought in, put up and sorted out in about 5 minutes! Our favourite thing, all of us have said we're the breakfasts. A huge selection of food , all freshly cooked and well presented. We at lots and thoroughly enjoyed it all. The staff made our stay so good, welcoming, friendly, chatty and extremely efficient. Give them all a Gold star please!
