Been a couple years since this happened but worth sharing: I booked a car from rentalcars.com for a car in the US, but I did so while I was on vacation in Germany. For some reason, when I went to pick up the car they told me they wouldn't give me the car I booked without a foreign driver's license since it was a "special rate." Nowhere did I say I was a foreigner, but rentalcars.com assumed that based on my IP and was stuck paying 3x the rate I thought I was going to pay as a result :(

Time something was done this company are using their multiple pages of conditions of sale to rob customers !

Be very wary! My flight times changed and I needed to change my car booking. I cancelled my original rental and re-booked using Rentalcars but via a different car provider. Rentalcars let me make the booking and everything was confirmed but days later they contacted me to say that the payment had not gone through (there is nothing wrong with my card) and there is absolutely nothing they can do to help. They cancelled my reservation and told me I need to re-book with a new search. By this time my 10% discount Booking.com voucher had expired (nothing they could do for that either!) and the car rental prices massively increased. NOT happy and I will never use their service again. If anybody asks, I will also warn against using their service.

I paid a deposit to pick up a car but when I arrived the car rental company was closed. Rentalcars.com blamed me for 'not trying another solution' and wouldn't refund my deposit. I filed numerous complaint after complaint until I received a refund for my deposit not from this Rentalcars.com but from my bank. This company is the biggest scam in history.

Paid twice the agreed price because of hotel quarantine. Called them later but they said they couldnt do anything despite what they advertise when you book, they do not have a covid 19 refund policy!! Also their 0161 602 5400 number on my rental voucher never worked. I successfully reached them from another phone number that you cant find on the voucher... If you drive in Australia, you dont always have the connection to browse their website forever to find another phone number. Not meant for this country. Also check their ratings on both trustpilot.com and au.trustpilot.com otherwise you ll be mislead.

Horrendous customer service and scammed out of over 150 Euros. Although the terms stated I could pick up the car with credit or debit card, the rental company told me that I could only use credit card. They charged me 150 euros for insurance in order to use my debit card. Complete scam. Customer service since has been appalling. It may be cheap but there's a good reason for it - avoid.

WORST SCAM! AVOID THIS AT ALL COST It's a scam. They took from us 500 euros, just because they didn't accept debit cards and they canceled our reservation. According to their T&C we should get back the full insurance and 3 days of the reservation. In T&C they said that if the reservation is canceled, you will still pay the first 3 days. Since we paid 6 days in total, we should still get back 3 days. scammers, let's call the consumer protection authority. No customer service, we did a complaint but I'm sure it's all in vain. never experienced something like this, please avoid!!!
