I made a booking of a rental car on booking.com which is served be rentalcars.com. When trying to pick up the rental car, the rental car provider demanded an additional fee of over 1230 USD for my rental period. I refused to pay and called rentalcars.com which said I can request a refund via their website. I never received a refund! It’s been months of back and forth, but they refuse to refund the payment.

Booked a car at rentalcars.com and got a call back from the actual rental services Via rentals that the car cannot be used for driving within the US. The car can only be driven in the specific state which it is rented which rental cars fails to mention while booking. Call center has a long wait time after which they read from a predefined script "cancellation less than 48 hours will not be honored, read Terms and Conditions which states that inter state US travels not allowed". But it is not mentioned in the "Included in the Rental Price", "Not Included in Rental Price", "What you need at Pick Up" but in "Extra Services, Payable and Counter - Cross Border Travel is not allowed with this car hire company" now they want to assume cross border is actually state borders and not country borders which is strange. normally we associate this with cross country and not state. Via rentals confirmed this pattern have been seen with many customers who are left in the mud by rentalscars.com by carefully hiding these details. That is why I would suggest to hire a lawyer to check the TnC while booking at this website. I think there business model is to actually make money of these cancellations since customers are left with no choice but to cancel and they pocket they money without providing any service.

Worst service ever. Tried to cancel a car in good time before the cancellation period, and their "systems" couldn't fix it. Impossible to get through customer support even with the most expensive package. Truly the mots horrible experience with a car rental ever.

Poor poor experience. Still awaiting my refund 6 weeks on despite numerous promises and 6 reminder calls. Pathetic service and company. Advise to book directly or use other platforms. The owner of this company should be banned from doing any business and put behind bars. Scammer

Possibly the worst company to use, do not touch them with some one else’s barge pole. Customer service is non existent. They take the money and run. The website is shocking. The app is equally poor.

29 Jun 22: Called the Dutch number given for RentalCars.com when told there were no cars. Asked if we could speak English, the RentalCars.com agent hung up. I called back and that agent too hung up when asked if we could speak English. 1 Jul 22: Told to call back the next day so the agent could call Budget and confirm there were no cars. Filed feedback online. 2 Jul 22: Told since I filed online, it was sent to the CR Team. Told to wait 28 days for a decision. Called back and was told it may be sooner. Still waiting for them to confirm they owe me a refund. Terrible service - avoid like the plauge.
