Last week I had a bad experience with Rentalcars.com. I reserved a car on their website from Direct Rent (Otopeni, Romania). I arrived at 1:30am to pick up the car, as scheduled. The employee of Direct Rent refused to use my credit card (Visa Gold) to block the 1800€ guarantee. He motivated that on the credit card is not specified "credit". He couldn't show me where it's written in the terms and conditions. It was just a scam to get 670€ (later reduced to 480€) for an extra insurance. He tried to take advantage of the late hour and that I needed the car. I refused to pay him and didn't receive the car. I was surprised that Rentalcars.com agreed with this type of scam and was trying to find excuses for them. I had also to pay a fee for "not receiving"the car, even though it was not my fault. I had all the necessary documents and the credit card. I will never use Rentalcars again

I've been using rentalcars for 5 years without problems but last trip to Malta changed it when we booked a car from Green Motion company. I never checked terms and conditions directly at the rental company website but I relied on rentalcars to provied all necessary information but it looks like they simply use general template for all companies and don't care if the terms are different or there are extra hidden fees. We were charged 15 euros extra for "premium location" at the airport and another 50 euros for using debit card let alone keeping deposit of 500 euro for nearly a month. Therefore paying nearly double for the car if all extra fees were added which made that offer far worse among the competition and we'd choose different company.

Another scam! They rented a car to me through Booking.com the company (Volta4U) didn't provide me with the car as agreed as I had debit card but not credit card. They told me they will cancel the booking themself and I need to contact Rentalcars later and ask to pay me back the amount. Now Rentalcars don't accept responsibility and says I should have contact them immediately and not after my trip!

I had a really bad experience with Rentalcars.com. I booked a car through rentalcars.com for 4 days in Kusadasi Turkey from 30th March to 3rd April (supplier was AVIS) (Booking Ref: 713911765). When I arrived at AVIS in Kusadasi, they informed me that the booking was cancelled and they could not retrieve my order as I was due to pick up at 10 am and I arrived there at 1 pm. AVIS suggested making a refund claim via rentalcars.com and making a new booking with them. As per suggestion, I made a new booking with them at their office. AVIS suggested not to use rentalcars.com in future and do the booking with them directly. I contacted rentalcars.com for a refund. They said I could not claim a refund as I was late to pick up the car from AVIS. Nvertheless, in order to apply for a refund I need to wait until the return date which is 3rd April. I will not use rentalcars.com hereafter again even though I have used it many times before I did not experience such problems and have managed to collect the cars late many times on previous occasions.

geht gar nicht, wollte einen Mietwagen über check24. buchen. Nach Eingabe der Kreditkarten Daten kam die Meldung das das Angebot ausgebucht ist. Das war am 06.03.24. Der Betrag in Höhe von über 1000€ wurde bis heute noch nicht wieder gutgeschrieben. Habe schon eingemauert mit Check24 telefoniert aber nichts erreicht. Jetzt habe ich das Kreditkartenunternehmem eingeschaltet. Mail direkt an Rentalcars habe ich auch geschrieben, telefonisch konnte ich niemanden erreichen. Nie mehr Rentalcars. Leider habe ich vorher nicht die zahlreichen schlechten Bewertungen hier bei Trustpilot gelesen

I ordered a car through rentalcars, when I came to pick up the car, the representative who received me started the conversation by saying that it was a shame that I ordered the car through an external company, that in the future I always have to order through the rental company directly. He threatened me, that if I take the vehicle as I ordered through rentalcars, he will have to block 2000 euros on my credit account and it will take them several months to release. He forced me to take full insurance through the rental company and said that rentalcars collection would be cancelled. But i was charged twice. Very bad service. Stay away!

I would put 0 stars if I could. Disclaimer: I did several bookings with Rentalcars before with no problems but I never got a plane delay before. This time proved that you should stay away from them to avoid such situation like it happened to us. I will explain in details. We booked the car for two weeks via rental car for Sao Miguel - Azores with Magic Island, and we did it several months before the trip. The flight hour change in the meantime by 1hour ( from airline) and to change the booking was possible only cancelling it and rebooking it at more expensive prices, more than double. To avoid any issue, we emailed rentalcars and we tried to phone the car rental to make sure they knew we were arriving one hour later but none replied. On the day of arrival the car was not delivered and reservation cancelled with no refund despite all was fully paid. Money lost and mean customer service, no refund, no other car. We had to rebook at 5x the price (over 1000 euros) on the same day at the airport. So read it carefully, if your flight is late you are going to lose the full reservation and all the money. Don't book with rentalcars and don't book with Magic Island ever again or take the risk of losing your reservation for 1h flight delay

We rented a car through them from Europcar in South Africa. After returning home, we received a massive bill because the renter had not returned the obligatory security deposit after car return at Capetown airport. Rentalcars don't want to know and we can't get in touch with Europcar SA to dispute this. Please AVOID this business, they are disinterested middlemen making a fast buck. Rent direct if you can.
