I recently had the pleasure of taking a 1 Month Remote Year Journey in Medellin, Colombia, and I can confidently say that it was an incredible experience. The people, the city, the hosts, and the experiences, everything was nothing short of amazing. Firstly, the community coordinator from Remote Year (Maria) was fantastic. She was friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout my entire stay. Her expertise and knowledge of the city were invaluable in making my trip a success. She provided me with excellent recommendations on things to do, places to eat, and helped me connect with other remote workers and locals. The city of Medellin itself is a gem. The culture, the people, and the scenery are all breathtaking. I was able to explore the city and immerse myself in the local culture while working full time thanks to Remote Year's services. I felt safe, welcomed, and completely enchanted by the beauty of the city. The city coordinator from Remote Year (Cata) was also outstanding. She was knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely cared about ensuring that my stay was enjoyable. She provided me with excellent accommodations that were comfortable, clean, and well-equipped with everything I needed. Finally, the experiences that I had while in Medellin were unforgettable. From exploring the colorful streets of Comuna 13, to taking a coffee tour, to exploring Guatape, to salsa dancing with the locals, every moment was filled with adventure and excitement. The opportunities that Remote Year provided me with were truly priceless, and I am so grateful for the memories that I have made. In conclusion, I highly recommend Remote Year to anyone looking to travel and work remotely. My experience with them in Medellin was nothing short of amazing, and I can't wait to use their services again in the future. I recently had the pleasure of staying in Medellín, Colombia and I have to say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The town is stunning, with beautiful plants and flowers everywhere you look, and the weather was simply perfect (if you like the occasional afternoon rain shower - which I do!). But what really made my stay so special were our amazing city managers Cata and Maria who went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible time. From the moment I arrived, Maria was there to greet us and show us around. Cata & Maria were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, always making sure we had everything we needed and their bebés (aka Remotes) were safe and having a great time. Medellín is a wonderful city full of friendly locals and visitors from all over the world. I made some amazing new friends and I know that I'll always look back on this trip with fond memories. I would highly recommend Medellín to anyone looking for a truly unforgettable Colombian experience.

The Remote Year community has become so deeply ingrained in my life that in recent years they're almost one. I did a four month LATAM journey in 2019 pre-pandemic and most recently just did a number of one months in South America and Europe. If you are at a spot in your life where you crave adventure and connections with people physically available and down to hang out while having a supportive backdrop of a city team for help with housing and wifi and the things that make travel annoying then RY is for you. You will not regret this experience. As a seasoned RY go hard my personal favorite is the four month. The extended time together truly gives a group the ability to bond and you will walk away with life long friends and maybe even a partner! Don't hesitate any longer, sign up!

Upsides: Traveling with a group of likeminded individuals to a new city/ country. Having the opportunity to learn about a new culture over a longer period of time vs. a week vacation where you must cram everything in and don’t have the chance to understand how life really is at your destination. Community leaders are passionate about travel and making sure you have the best experience possible. The excursions exposed me to some really cool parts and places in Medellin that may have taken me longer on my own to discover. General comfort of not having to worry about getting your infrastructure set up on the ground in a new place. Downsides: Housing, I had a private apartment (+$700 on top of the program fee). My housing experience was marked with having to switch apartments because of mold in my unit (likely isolated, but also a big deal since it impacts my health) and the apartments overall not being very clean or comfortable. Housing is the number one thing RY needs to get right. If someone can’t get adequate rest or retreat from the challenges of living in a new environment from time to time, it makes it hard to really open up and immerse in a new experience. The issues I experienced damaged my trust in RY to deliver an experience that would help me grow as a person. I’ve given detailed feedback and recommendations to RY that I hope they consider implementing. If you’re planning to book with RY, I’d have a reserve budget to give yourself flexibility to get out of a bad housing situation if it arises.

I have just completed my 4 month journey through Latin America and it has been the best decision of my life by far. The community that Remote Year has given me and the experiences I was able to do during these last 4 months have left me speechless. Thank you Remote Year for a truly life-changing experience and all that you do for your Remotes! Omar Bravo is the best community leader of all time and completely made our trip.

I wanted to take time to compliment Dado from Split, Croatia. He is so sincere, hard working and a through and through good person. Even though this is his first month, we all enjoyed him very much. He naturally creates boundaries that are seamless between friendship and professional. Ivana is absolutely wonderful as well and she is lucky to have him as her workmate.

This program changed my life! You will get the chance to be part of an amazing community, whilst participating in one of a kind excursions. I cannot recommend this program enough! Omar and Rocksan truly make this program so special. They both are special human beings and I am so grateful to have met them. My 1-month trip to Medellin, Colombia, was everything that I had hoped for! The city team was amazing - so helpful, gave us great local tips, and generally just fun to get to know. I loved the workspace, its coffee shop, and garden. The apartments were nice with a balcony and hammock overlooking the city. Medellin is a vibrant and fun city with plenty of nature/outdoors activities, and also lots of city life. It was an incredible month, and I can't wait to do more RY trips in the future.
