Like most great companies, it all started with an idea. In 1974, Jon and Christel DeHaan set out to add greater value to the timeshare experience when they pioneered the vacation exchange concept. The DeHaans developed a system that allowed owners to exchange time at their home resort for a stay at a different affiliated property—delivering a new level of flexibility and choice to timeshare owners and revolutionizing an industry in the process.Today, RCI remains the leader in vacation exchange, offering the world’s largest vacation exchange network and providing unrivaled products and services to enhance the vacation ownership experience. It’s one of the many reasons why more resorts trust RCI to deliver vacation exchange services to its subscribing members than any other company across the globe

As an RCI member for 28 years, I agree some things have changed in the value-for-costs department. BUT, how anyone can blame RCI for the upheaval caused by the pandemic is ridiculous. Every month of 2020 has seen "new rules" for travel, accommodations, dining ....... The number of people trying to salvage their reservations is overwhelming for ANY company. My travel agent is in the same boat (literally, ship). Give them a chance to get it right, people.

I worked as a vacation specialist and tour guide with RCI for 2 years and the experience was great! It feels like you are also planning the next vacation with your customer from different locations. A great company that always look after the welfare of its people.

I have been a member or RCI for well…
UPDATE: I am officially changing my rating for RCI from a 1 star to a 5 star! In less than 24 hours, after writing this review and then deciding to send RCI a detailed email containing the facts I expressed below, they reached out to me and completely addressed all of my concerns listed in my first review.
Even though I had called multiple times trying to resolve my issue, in retrospect I probably should have also emailed them as a last option prior to posting a bad review. I am now one happy camper and will be looking forward to booking more incredible vacations with RCI.
I am leaving my original review below. I am offering the following advise. If you should find your issues are not resolved to your satisfaction using the Chat or Call features, you may want to email them a detailed explanation of your issues first and wait for a response and hopefully a satisfactory resolution. That definitely will be my course of action in the future before posting a negative review.
________ Original Review _________
I have been a member or RCI for well over 25 years and had many wonderful exchange vacations. We have two rooms booked for a trip to Cozumel, Mexico on July 11, 2020. The resort is currently not open but is showing as "scheduled to open on July 1st".
Issue 1: We are not certain that date will be adhered to and or if the resort will even truly be open. Nor do we know what "anticipated amenities" might be unavailable for our use due to COVID19 Restrictions. We do, however know that the dining, dining, spa, and pool privileges at the Sunscape Sabor Cozumel next door will not be available if the Suncape Sabor adheres to their currently published opening date of July 15th.
Issue 2: We are elderly with risk factors and because Mexico is still a level 4 travel destination, we are quite worried about traveling there.
Issue 3: We don't really care if our points are refunded as we have about 780 points in the bank and a paid membership good through May 2025. We simply really would like for our exchange fee and the guest certificate cost for one of the rooms to be refunded.
Issue 4: Our preferred airline is not yet flying to Cozumel and when I checked the price on an airline that was flying there today, it was over $3000.00 (THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS) per person - and that was not even a direct flight! It seems the longer we wait for them to extend their refund offer from travel up until June 30, 2020 to July 15, 2020, the higher the airfare climb. I feel we are unfairly being told no refund to encourage us to make the trip while being encouraged to wait and see and increase our travel cost. This is not right!
I have called several times about cancelling this reservation and each time I have been told "no refunds". "Keep watching the website for policy updates." Honestly, I'm so over this.
Does RCI not realize that many of their long time members are older with health issues and are repeatedly being told not to travel especially to international destinations???
Fortunately, we have not yet paid the $3300 all inclusive fees, but we have already paid ~$850 for a room upgrades. I don't care who you are, this is quite a financial hit that RCI is dragging their policy feet causing us to incur.
This is just not right.

I would like a refund or extra credit because of the corona virus thanks you
So are you saying I have to take it up with my resort time share?
(((((((So I read reviews that we the services offered by RCI are closed during the corona virus yet I am still required to pay a maintenance fee, I would like some kind of accommodation for my trouble a refund of extra points or something to make up for the fact that I am paying meintenance for a resort that is not even open during the virus!))))))))
Response from RCIMar 27, 2020
Hi Araks, we know this time is difficult for everyone and RCI is happy to help our members with cancellations and rebookings when they are ready. Unfortunately your maintenance fee is not related to RCI, but rather your home resort/timeshare you purchased. RCI does not own or operate resorts or properties. We encourage you to reach out to your home resort directly with your concerns.
We hope you and your family are well and safe.
Best,
RCI

I’ve been an RCI member for 10 years, and it’s allowed me to travel to some great places affordably. Sometime you have to book well in advance but you are able to stay at incredible places for very little money. Great value.

Why all the negative reviews?
I've owned a timeshare for 14 years and have only exchanged through RCI. It's really simple to exchange online and their agents are friendly and helpful. I've had gripes about some resorts but not RCI's fault. I like that you can buy an entire week got $200,00 and not even have to exchange. Overall I've been pleased with them.
