RCILike most great companies, it all started with an idea. In 1974, Jon and Christel DeHaan set out to add greater value to the timeshare experience when they pioneered the vacation exchange concept. The DeHaans developed a system that allowed owners to exchange time at their home resort for a stay at a different affiliated property—delivering a new level of flexibility and choice to timeshare owners and revolutionizing an industry in the process.Today, RCI remains the leader in vacation exchange, offering the world’s largest vacation exchange network and providing unrivaled products and services to enhance the vacation ownership experience. It’s one of the many reasons why more resorts trust RCI to deliver vacation exchange services to its subscribing members than any other company across the globe

I have enjoyed the ride with RCI. Timeshare has had bad press for all the years I have been a member, but I can only speak from my experience. It has given me the opportunity to travel the world, taking elderly parents to many foreign climbs. Its not the company it once was, but its still been a great experience. Thank you

I had good experience with RCI overall. My wife and I were able to find a good accommodation in Lake Tahoe for very affordable price. The negatives would be that customer service is not very helpful, website is horrible and problematic, and the weekly fee is on the high side.

I had 2 weeks booked in Hawaii in September. Now that Hawaii has extended their lockdown to Sept. 30, RCI also their cancellation policy out to the same date for Hawaii reservations. However, the policy only gives a refund of points and a credit for the exchange fee. Since neither resort is actually open, I was under the impression that it was the resort that cancelled the reservation and that I should get a refund of the exchange fee and not 2 credits that I have to try to use by the end of the year. UPDATE: I sent an email to the address provided in the company response and was able to arrive at a satisfactory resolution. Changed from 1 star to 4.

Hasta el momento he utilizado dos veces hoteles por RCI y han cumplido con todo lo pactado. La atención al cliente en mi caso fue buena. Por ahora nada de qué quejarme.

Great Resorts. Good concept... However, RCI is not especially good for those of us who do long term planning. If you request a resort in a popular location, you may not get a confirmation until the last minute. RCI trades do not seem to be a priority and even if you request a resort a year or more in advance, you have to wait and wait and run the risk of not getting it... For long term planning, this means you have to get the air fare long before you have a place to stay... it's a big risk... It is a risk I have had success with... in one case... and not in another case.. I would definitely prefer getting confirmations much further in advance to reduce the risk. Even when you own a very highly rated, sought after resort, your trades (ongoing requests) do not happen until the last minute.

I have owned timeshare for nearly 15 years and have had great holidays in excellent accommodation. I would recommend ownership and exchange with RCI to anyone. Once you've had a timeshare holiday its very difficult to accept normal package accommodation and it can even work out more expensive even with the costs of exchange and maintenance which like everything else have risen over the years. For visiting the States its invaluable. I mainly use RCI's online system but have also used the telephone contact service. Advisors are friendly and helpful. The online service can be a little slow at times due to the content but great for surfing new places.
