Hi Ray, Thank you for sharing your feedback. The most common and easiest way to finish the ends of twisted cotton rope is to use electrical tape. Wrap the tape around the last 3/4-inch of your rope. Then, use a lighter and carefully melt the tape's edge, binding it to the rope for a permanent bond. This will keep the rope from fraying. Electrical tape is what we use to secure the ends. It comes in various colors to match your rope or color scheme. Depending on your desired result "rope end caps" can also be used. We hope this helps. Best Regards, Customer Support
