I am a senior who needs additional income, and at the age of 72 needs to work from home. I've considered many things over the past few years and nothing has worked. I then discovered Caitlin Pyle on Facebook and it really grabbed me, because she asked "are you a word nerd who is always finding typos and mistakes everywhere?" And I thought, yes, how did you know? So I bought the course at the discount and began the journey. Incidentally, I thought the price of the course was very fair for the tremendous amount of information that you get. Little did I know how much I really didn't know! I am amazed and impressed at how much information exists in this course. Caitlin is extremely thorough. Not only does she take you through all aspects of grammar, spelling, and punctuation, etc., but she also delves deeply into mindset and maintaining a positive attitude in the midst of discouragement. For me, the quizzes and practice tests were difficult, but they needed to be in order for me to really learn. She includes many excellent resources and links to free materials to have at your fingertips for research. She also sends numerous emails intended to guide you as an entrepreneur. The big challenge I've had since the beginning of this course is my lack of tech skills, and it's still holding me back. I have indeed paid for tutoring and have learned much. But that would be my only criticism, that there is not a way within this course that someone with this problem could find help. However, I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in becoming a proofreader.

Doing this course was one of the best decisions I have ever made! I was already an experienced general proofreader, but I decided that I would like a new challenge and a new niche...I'm so glad I did this. The transcript proofreading course is incredibly comprehensive, not only covering the technical aspects of proofreading transcripts but also helping students to consider their personal strengths and self-development. The practice material is extensive, which meant that I felt very confident in reaching out to potential clients after I had graduated. Four months after graduating, I now have four regular court reporter clients -- and they just keep coming. :) I am based in the UK, and the course helped me to feel happy and familiar with US/UK differences in spelling and punctuation, so my location/background has not been a barrier to finding work and doing a great job for my clients. Caitlin has kept the course content authentic and personable while also making sure it is professional and that it prepares students for the real work out there in the real world. I have been pleased and impressed with the entire process. Being a busy single mother, it was important that I had the flexibility to stop and start the course if necessary and to pay in stages. All in all, I can't speak highly enough of Proofread Anywhere; it's been a brilliant experience. I would highly recommend this course to anyone that potentially has "eagle eyes"!

The Proofread Anywhere course was an essential starting point for my editorial career. I knew what I wanted to do, but I did not know how to get there. PA took me step-by-step through the basics of proofreading and turning it into an independent small business. I do recommend it for those who want to work in editorial but don't know where to begin. I am not a natural entrepreneur, so it was very helpful in that sense. It seemed a good financial investment for what I received, and though it is just a beginning and a building block for a newbie, it's good value for the money. Four stars because I work better under deadlines and the course is self-paced. It might be better for some students to have hard deadlines in order to get through the course in a timely manner. The business start-up information and the networking resources are very helpful.

The course absolutely prepares you for every aspect of starting your own proofreading business. I have no regrets in taking the General Proofreading course.

I completed Proofread Anywhere's General Proofreading Theory and Practice course by Caitlin Pyle in June 2020. This comprehensive online course is self-guided, with easy to follow modules that walk you through all aspects of proofreading, from grammar basics you need to know to the actual methods used by professional proofreaders. Also included are modules on starting your own proofreading business, finding clients, and having the right mindset to work as a freelancer. The course has plenty of practice documents to hone your skills before taking the final exam, and a fantastic Facebook group to connect with and get help when needed. I enjoyed taking this course more than any class I took in college. It was engaging and I could work on it at my own pace. If proofreading is something you want to pursue, there isn't a better course out there.

I've been fortunate enough to take two of the Proofread Anywhere courses, and I'm so glad that I did. I've always thought of myself as a natural proofreader, but the courses challenged me. I gained new skills as I navigated the court transcript proofreading course. In short, I'm very happy to have found these courses, and I recommend them highly!

The General Proofreading course is a great way to brush up on your grammar skills and take them to the next level. It is a self-learning course, so you need to have initiative and follow through to make it work for you. I had a great experience going through the course materials and taking the final. The Facebook group is supportive and helpful, and there is always someone available to give an encouraging word. It is what you make of it!

I started the General Proofreading course with some trepidation about online learning. Boy was I surprised!. The lessons are well planned and sequenced for introducing new ideas and content. The lessons are self-paced. You can start and stop and continue when you have time. That's very convenient. This is not a schlock course--you will have to put in study time to do the work and be successful, but all the resources are right there. And if you need help, you just have to ask the FB group. There are many graduates and students and proofreaders there to assist. Overall the experience was good. The only reason I rated a four was I wish there was more video interaction and more specific coaching within the lessons. Also, reduce the number of discrepancies in the answer keys! Other than that, it was a good experience. We've been told the materials are being updated and improved. Can't wait to see the new materials. Thanks!
