investigate Proofreading Anywhere before buying. sad that I didn't
When I enrolled in the general proofreading course, I was overwhelmed with promotional emails. Several daily emails that offered the next step courses for fees ranging from $97 to $348.95. I am just now finding time to pick through over 330 emails for pertinent information that ACTUALLY applies to the course that I paid way too much for. I did have to ask them to stop with the promotional emails until I had a chance to pick through them. The "instructive" emails that I have finally come across are rather trite. Lots of links to blog posts. Lists of suggested books for reading. I haven't even found information to know if this course in particular comes with an accredited certificate. I am feeling super buyer's remorse.

Prepare to be SPAMMED!
Do NOT give these people your email address! I was intrigued to hear a little more about their program. After looking into it, it became clear that almost no one was able to make a living as a proofreader after taking their course. Read the one star TrustPilot reviews. I never paid for their course. My complaint— it’s been 5 days since I looked at their course, and I’ve received more than 30 emails from them! I’ve unsubscribed and blocked them!

I paid what I thought was quite a lot of money for this course. As I used to spend a lot of time proofreading in my recent job, now that I am retired, I thought I would put my skills to good use in order to supplement my pension and thought this course could help me refresh my skills and maybe help me to find clients However, I had a lot of trouble trying to download the lessons in the first module, so I emailed them at the customer support email address whichI was given in my welcome email, should I experience any problems. However, my email bounced straight back to me as 'undeliverable'! I checked that I had sent it to the correct address, so I tried the email address which sent my welcome email, but it still bounced back! I'm not at all happy with this poor service.

They do a lot of marketing to you for…
They do a lot of marketing to you for additional programs to enhance the basic course. I am being constantly bombarded to buy them. If you can get through the basic course which takes a lot of time, you still don't have the skills or marketing know how so they are constantly selling you programs. The cost for these extra programs are $300 on up to 600 or more. I bought the program to do this on the side but gave up on it because time commitment to do it too large and I certainly can't afford all the other programs to make the first one work. They only give you a 14 day money back guarantee. That is a joke because there Is no way to even get through all the modules and tests in that amount of time. I am spending about 300 and it's for nothing. Tried to get money back but they claim the 14 day time. Didn't see that. A 14 day money back doesn't stand behind their product. They are the ones making money. STAY CLEAR. It would take a lot of time and effort to be successful at this. Not a part time gig.

As someone with a Bachelor's degree in English and nearly 50 years' experience working for major clients writing and publishing marketing materials in all formats, I am embarrassed to say I trusted your come-ons.
I signed up while I was recovering from a Total Knee Replacement Operation. I guess I should have had a "total brain replacement" too. In any event, before the clock runs out on the 14 days, please refund the total monies I have paid.
(Oh. and you have a typo in one section of your rules -- please note that individual situations can vary. Therefore, the information should be relied upon when coordinated with individual professional advice. The "not" is missing.)

Not cost effective
In reading the other negative comments, I saw common threads; the information imparted is not worth the money charged. The FB group is overly dramatic. The tests are graded eratically. Results were not what was expected. etc.
Some things I didn't like about the infomercial I viewed: I had to tap on two different screens for course pricing, which would go up by $100 if the page were closed; The $600+ price tag was not addressed in the presentation. This is likely so the presentation is usable for several years without havng to change it. Changeable or not, I'm NOT able to afford this - a "course" that lasts approximately 30 days from an unaccredited school costing $600. The approximate credit-hour cost from the brick-and-mortar, accredited Old Dominion University in Virginia is around $300. And that course lasts for approximately 4.5 months. Just a little disparity. While I understand the company needs to make money, it seems a bit much for a home/internet-based program which may, or may not, even have an office, let alone an entire campus.
As this is a proofreading introduction, one would think the verbage used during the infomercial would also be grammatically correct. Among other irritating points, Caitlin repeatedly used "wanna" in the presentation and also hurried along to where some of her verbage sounded blended together or swallowed. The 8 question "test" questons were put up for mere fractions of a second. One is barely able to read the text in that time, let alone spot any mistakes. She also kept on about confidence, assuming no-one is self confident.
Also, in the ad for the infomercial, several questons were asked regarding proofreaading in other countries. The responses were that the course is only availability for U.S. audiences. That being the case, why are several of the staff patently NOT from the United States? Could that be why some of the test results were graded inconsistantly? People who's first language is not American English may have different grammar rules, thereby not realizing they've made a mistake in grading an American English paper.
All in all, this does not appear to be a good fit for me, nor for many or most others.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We appreciate hearing from our students, as it helps us continually improve.
We understand that the price and duration of the course may feel different compared to traditional education, but we’ve designed this program to provide a thorough and efficient training experience in a shorter timeframe. The course focuses on equipping students with the skills they need to start their freelance proofreading careers quickly, and we offer flexible payment plans to make it more accessible.
Regarding your concerns about grading, we aim to be consistent and thorough, adhering to American English rules as outlined in the course. Our instructors are trained in the field, and we strive to provide helpful feedback to all students. If there’s ever any confusion or if students feel unsure about their results, we're always here to provide further clarification and support.
We’re sorry to hear that you found the pacing of the presentation and tests to be challenging. We want every student to feel comfortable and confident in the material, and we encourage anyone who feels they need further explanation or clarification to reach out. Our goal is to create an inclusive and supportive environment, and we’re happy to assist whenever needed.
Thank you again for sharing your experience with us. We’re sorry the course wasn’t the right fit for you, but we hope you’ll consider giving it another try in the future. We’re here to support you in any way we can!
