The trip was one of the most amazing experiences I have had. The staff were kind, but what really made the trip for me was the Expedition Staff. The were so knowledgeable, and truly made the experience one of a kind. This trip really does deserve 5 stars, however, some of the housekeeping staff stole some of my and my roommates items in our cabin. I really did not appreciate this at all. I will admit that one of the 4 items that was taken from one was mysteriously returned one morning, which was nice, but it should not have been taken in the first place. This trip was truly a once in a life time experience and I would recommend this trip to everyone. Aside from the one incident it was a fantastic trip, and as I said before the expedition staff were incredible. They made the trip fun, and I felt like I learned so much about a place so many people know so little about.

Hello, Celina, and thanks for your post on TrustPilot. We greatly appreciate your comments about the expedition team. You mention that "some of the housekeeping staff stole some of my and my roommates items in our cabin." The daily log book kept at the Reception Desk notes that you reported "that your cup/tumbler was missing," and that the chief housekeeper, hotel cleaner and stateroom attendant were informed, but that the tumbler was not found. There was no report from you about any other items missing while you were aboard, or that you felt the items were actually stolen. Nor was the hotel manager or expedition leader informed by you of anything stolen or even missing. We checked, and have no record of your roommate making any verbal complaint or claim about this at any time to our staff. Also, nothing was mentioned about this in the passenger survey/questionnaire that you completed at the end of the voyage, where you rated your room steward "excellent." We also checked with your travel agent following the trip, and while you did fill out a post-trip survey with the agent, nothing about this was mentioned. They were as surprised to hear about it as we were. We are sorry to read about your dissatisfaction regarding missing personal items, and wish that you would have brought this to the attention of the purser or hotel manager in a more official way while you were aboard, particularly the other items that you mention now. I'm sure more of an effort would have been made to find the missing items and to investigate what is now a post-cruise complaint. We are proud of our extremely reliable shipboard staff, most of whom have worked aboard the Sea Spirit for many, many years. They are a close-knit family whose primary goal is to please their guests and make their stay aboard a pleasurable one.

The most incredible cruise I’ve ever taken! The expedition team was incredible and the service was superb. I am vegan and they even catered to my diet. I was so impressed!

Trip was good. Need to improve foods variation. And also should have give equal focus while making total presentation in Pen Drive. All countries representation should have been there. One country ( more in nos ) should not be the only focus, since this presentation is officially store in your archive.

My cruise was wonderful. The only reason I have not rated it five star was because of the behaviour of the largest nationality group represented on the tour. This was especially noticeable at the end of the tour when any reprisals were impossible to implement. Chasing penguins etc is NOT acceptable and could I imagine cost Poseidon their landing rights etc. The expedition team were fantastic as was of course the ship's crew. I felt sorry for the team though as clearly with certain markets being so strong it is a difficult situation for them to control. But for the greater good someone has to. I plan to bring an NZ group next year and my ONLy concern is how they will react to one nationality flaunting the clearly outlined rules. The ship, the itinerary and the wonderful personnel could not be faulted.

Hi, Derek. Thanks for your comments. You raise a point that is affecting many of the expedition ship operators, not just Poseidon. Fortunately, we belong to IAATO (The International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators), and there are numerous association initiatives underway to provide information – in multiple languages – that will hopefully, over time, change the behavior and mitigate the sometimes unrealistic expectations of these "new" travelers to the Seventh Continent. We are also working with the tour operators that are responsible for these groups to exert more control through better training of their group escorts and travel directors. As the number of Poseidon expedition staff is limited, we need to work in tandem with the native-speaking escorts and travel directors that accompany these groups to ensure guests are following the relevant guidelines ashore. Of course, we wish it could all happen overnight, but realistically it will take some time. Thanks for your nice comments about our staff and our ship, and we hope you join us again, perhaps in another polar region!

What more can I say but sheer perfection! From the luxurious pre cruise night at the Arakur, to the seamless boarding and the amazing crew and expedition team who treated us like family, this was truly a trip of a lifetime. The Sea Spirit was the perfect size ship for an Antarctica adventure with its luxury, roomy cabins, yet it was small and nimble enough to handle any zodiac landing opportunity. Anja and her outstanding expedition team were always ready to make sure everything was planned, coordinated and brilliantly executed. Even when we were delayed in leaving Ushuaia by a day due to high winds and surf in the Drake Passage, the team quickly put together a great program of tours and hikes to fill in. Once we set sail and arrived in the S. Shetlands, the rest was a nonstop orgy of spectacular scenery, penguin antics, whales, history, geology, ornithology and marine biology. And we were lucky enough to be kayakers as well! I will never forget our morning call to arms from our intrepid kayak master Ida "Good morning kayakers!" An epic paddle was sure to follow! Captain Oleg and his crew made midcourse corrections to maximize our opportunities, while Ruel and his staff provided amazing service in the dining room. We are vegetarians and there was always something prepared just for us. We even got to do two of the craziest things we've ever done on the same day! The Polar Plunge at Orne Harbor followed by camping out at Leith Cove out, exposed, in the open. I recommend Poseidon without hesitation to anyone who wants to visit the incredible, magnificent continent of Antarctica. Thank you Poseidon! We are already planning our 2020 trip to the Arctic with Poseidon and Sea Spirit!

It was truly one of the best adventures of our lives. Not only was the scenery spectacular, but the penguins and other wildlife just made my soul soar. In between activities, the guides provided lectures that blew me away. Anja Eerdmann, our tour director, was so helpful and kind. All of the staff on board the ship was top notch and went out of their way to assist you. They are all so knowledgeable and kind! The ship and cabin were beautiful. Being vegetarians, there were plenty of options and very delicious entrees.
