honest, low-cost custom computers
wanted a basic barebones but high performance computer. Thought newegg or the like would be the best place to start. But after a little searching, found the portatech site. I didnt even know if I would end up buying here, but their site basically shows you what the choices and tradeoffs are for building a computer. When I figured out what I wanted, I went and compared their prices to amazon and others. Everything turned out to be reasonably priced. The only components I decided to buy on my own were lower quality (=cheaper) than portatech. Considering they'll assemble it all for you, the prices are pretty much if you bought each component yourself. Really a great experience, no other site even came close, would recommend. Update: One caveat: portatech says they refund shipping if they like your review. So that means the reviews will be biased, so take that into account! I love portatech, and really mean my review above, but it's fishy to pay for good reviews. Separately, they didnt actually refund any shipping! So that's a little slimy too. Portatech, cmon, you dont need to do this, you're awesome otherwise!!
