Plunge is dangerous and lacking support
I bought the $5k version of The Plunge in 2022, and was excited to be an early adopter. It has broken down twice since then and support has been basically unresponsive and useless. The first time it broke in 2023, the pump stopped working and there was no water flow. We reached out to support and were told any repairs would be at our expense since it the one year warranty had expired. That's insane for a $5,000 plunge just over a year old, but ok. Support took days to respond to each email, it was impossible to get someone on the phone, and most of the people we connected with had no clue how to fix a broken unit or even how our particular unit was constructed. They sent us a barrage of incompatible parts over the coming weeks (pumps and hoses that didn't fit, couplings in the wrong size, etc.). Through this process we learned that many of the original component parts, such as the blue pump, had been pulled from circulation due to failure. When we removed our blue pump the interior had completely melted and collapsed in on itself. When we finally did receive the correct parts a month later, they sent us training videos intended for their technicians and asked us to do the retrofit ourselves. This involved cutting out insulation, cutting plumbing hoses, gluing new couplings and pvc together, and drilling into the plunge basin exterior to mount a new pump. We are incredibly handy people and still found this to be reckless in its complexity. Not to mention that the reason most people fork over so much money for a tub instead of building one is because they want a plug & play option. Eventually, we got it back up and running and hoped it was an isolated issue. Three months later, we again had no water flow. We reached out to support again and while we were waiting for a response, several of the electrical components melted. The Plunge is indoors in our home and the only reason we averted an electrical fire was because someone was home sick and smelled the burning and smoke. We followed up with support to tell them about the electrical fire and sent photos. We received no reply. I loved The Plunge while it was working, but it's clear that this product is being designed and distributed without sufficient quality control. Each time I posted about my experience on a Plunge forum (their review site or IG) my comments were deleted. But TrustPilot, Reddit, BBB, and any forum not moderated by Plunge is filled with similar experiences. I'll probably have to resort to a small claims or product liability lawsuit to get any of my money back. All that is to say, don't make the same mistake I did. Choose another brand—with a warranty and proper support.
