Our plunge broke down in August and we have been communicating with Plunge ever since and they are not honoring the warranty. I previously considered Plunge to be one of the best companies in the industry, which is why it’s so disappointing to see the experience change.
Unfortunately, the machine we purchased has broken down several times, and the reliability has become a serious concern. We’ve had repeated issues that have required attention, and the level of service and support no longer seems to be what it once was.
I’m not sure what has changed within the company, but based on our recent experience, I’m concerned about the company’s direction and ability to support its customers long-term.
We really wanted to continue recommending Plunge, but after dealing with repeated breakdowns, it has become difficult to do so. I hope the company addresses these issues and returns to the level of quality and customer service that originally made us such strong supporters.

A Generation One customer who no longer trusts Plunge
I have been a Plunge customer since Generation One and, until this experience, fully expected to remain a customer. My future plans included eventually purchasing another cold plunge and potentially a sauna from Plunge. After seeing what happens when you actually need to use the extended warranty sold with their product, I would not feel comfortable making another major purchase from this company.
My Plunge failed and I have an active extended warranty that I purchased through Plunge. What followed has been an unbelievable runaround between Plunge, XCover, and Clyde.
I followed the warranty process, opened the claim, obtained the repair quote from Plunge, and provided the requested information. Instead of getting a decision, I have spent weeks being bounced between companies.
XCover ultimately told me that the claim needs to be handled through Clyde. Clyde has been essentially unresponsive despite repeated attempts to contact them and provide the repair quote. Their portal does not provide me with a functional way to upload what is needed. Meanwhile, Plunge’s position is that it cannot authorize the warranty repair without a determination from the third-party administrator.
So where exactly does that leave the customer?
Plunge points to the warranty administrator. XCover points to Clyde. Clyde doesn’t respond. Then Plunge explains that it cannot do anything without the administrator’s determination.
That is not a functioning warranty process.
I understand perfectly well that Plunge uses a third party to administer its extended warranties. What I find unacceptable is acting as though that business arrangement absolves Plunge of responsibility when the process completely breaks down. I did not independently seek out Clyde or XCover and decide to do business with them. I bought a Plunge product and purchased the extended warranty through Plunge.
As the customer, I should not have to untangle Plunge’s relationships with its warranty partners just to get someone to review a legitimate claim.
What makes this particularly disappointing is that I was an early Generation One customer. I supported this company early, have dealt with product issues over the years, and remained willing to continue buying from Plunge. Their products can and do require repairs—I know that firsthand—which makes dependable warranty support extremely important.
Instead, when I actually needed the extended warranty I paid for, I found myself trapped between three companies with nobody willing or able to take ownership of getting the claim to a resolution.
Plunge has apologized and explained that it cannot control the third-party administrator. That explanation does absolutely nothing for the customer sitting with an unusable product and a paid warranty that he cannot effectively access.
This experience has destroyed my confidence in Plunge. I can tolerate a product having a problem. Products break. What determines whether I remain loyal to a company is what that company does when its product breaks.
Until this happened, I expected my next cold plunge to be another Plunge and was seriously considering purchasing a sauna from them as well. I cannot justify spending thousands of dollars more with a company when my experience has shown me that, if something goes wrong, I may be left chasing third-party warranty companies while Plunge explains why the problem is outside its control.
For anyone considering purchasing from Plunge—particularly purchasing an extended warranty—I would strongly recommend understanding exactly who will stand behind that warranty and what happens if the administrator stops responding.
Because right now, despite purchasing the warranty through Plunge and doing everything asked of me, I still have a broken Plunge and no functioning path to get my warranty claim resolved.

$12,000 sauna, 22 months, 17 tickets, 22 replacement parts — still broken
I bought The Sauna Mini in October 2024. With the accessory kit, the $1,900 white-glove delivery and assembly service, the protection plan and tax, I paid $12,086.27. It was installed on November 19, 2024.
In the 22 months since, I have opened 17 support tickets, received 16 separate parts shipments totaling 22 replacement parts across 12 different part types, and had 5 technician visits. The sauna still does not work correctly today.
A partial list:
The installers Plunge sent for the $1,900 white-glove assembly did not install the door feet. Plunge confirmed this in writing: "it looks like the two door feet were not installed." Nobody was sent to fix it — they mailed me parts and I installed them myself. The misaligned door then cracked the cedar frame. Plunge's response: "This is the first time I've seen the frame break."
Plunge shipped me the wrong heat shield — an XL part for a Mini — and charged me $126.99 for it. I had to open an RMA to return the part they picked wrong.
The control knobs and dimmer faceplate took 9 parts shipments and 3 technician visits. On May 14, 2026 a Plunge technician glued the knobs on. They fell off the same day. On June 24 a technician took the parts away and never came back. Plunge's final written answer on August 13, 2026 was that I could have them glued on or leave them loose — "those are our two options" — and on August 18 that "the new minis are designed the exact same way."
The fan and fan control have not worked since February 2026. Still open. Still broken.
On July 24, 2026 the technician Plunge sent to replace the faceplate created a new door sensor fault, broke a glass light fixture, and left the broken glass in my sauna.
And the core issue: Plunge advertises the Sauna Mini as "Heats up to 210°F." Mine has never exceeded 191°F, and only after running for three full hours. Plunge has never sent a single part or a single technician to investigate the heating system. Not once in 22 months.
On September 19, 2026, Plunge Senior Management wrote: "Plunge will not issue a refund or replacement in response to your current request." They declared an impasse, assigned me a single point of contact, and instructed me not to CC any executives.
I am not a difficult customer. I paid full price, I waited, I installed their parts myself, I took five days off for technician visits. What I have is a $12,000 appliance that has never once performed to its own published specification, and a company that has decided it is finished trying.

Unsatisfactory Plunge Customer Service and Delivery Experience
Plunge customer service has been one of the worst customer service experiences. It was impossible to reach a customer service representative to receive an accurate shipping timeline, and when I scheduled help sessions through the website, the representative did not show up on two separate occasions. Then I was notified the day before that the delivery would be the following day during a time window, then called the following morning at 6:30am that they would be arriving within an hour. Then when the delivery team arrived, they tried telling me the cold plunge wouldn't fit through the door and they'd have to leave it, without trying other measurements. I solved the problem for them after they told me delivery would require a 4-person team and they only had 2 guys, but the delivery team was very unprofessional and unhelpful. They left all the sauna pieces, complained about how heavy everything was, and Plunge was impossible to get ahold of to see when installation was scheduled. Despite paying for white glove delivery, installation was not included and booking 2 weeks out. Very poor communication between Plunge, their delivery vendor, and installation vendor. When customer service did reach out via email, they were completely unhelpful. I hope when the products are up and running, they are worth the terrible customer service experience.

Extremely Disappointed With Plunge and…
Extremely Disappointed With Plunge and Their Protection Plan
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with Plunge and, in particular, how issues with my unit are being handled.
This is not the first problem I’ve had with my Plunge. I previously had an issue with the chiller breaking, which was already frustrating and required dealing with customer service and getting the issue resolved.
Now I’m dealing with another significant problem, and the way Plunge is handling it has been even more disappointing.
When I purchased my Plunge, I also purchased the XCover Protection Plan – $5,000–$7,499.99 / 5 Year, which cost me $676.99. I purchased this protection specifically for peace of mind in case something went wrong with the equipment.
Instead, I’m now being told that I need to pay approximately $3,300 out of pocket and then wait up to 25 days for XCover to handle the claim.
That is extremely frustrating. If I paid $676.99 for a five-year protection plan, I expected the process to actually provide meaningful protection when I needed it. Being asked to come up with another $3,300 myself and then wait weeks for the claim to be processed does not feel like the protection I believed I was purchasing.
Between the previous chiller failure and now this latest issue, I’m questioning the value of both the equipment and the protection plan.
I understand that insurance/protection-plan claims can have procedures and processing times, but customers should not be left in a position where they have already paid a substantial amount for protection and are then expected to front thousands of dollars while waiting weeks for the claim to be addressed.
I hope Plunge takes responsibility for helping resolve this situation rather than simply directing me to XCover. I purchased the protection plan through Plunge with the expectation that it would provide coverage when something went wrong.
At this point, I’m extremely disappointed with the product reliability, the customer service experience, and the way this protection-plan situation is being handled.

Is the plunge.com cold tub worth the money (lol)?
I bought a Plunge in July 2022 for over $6,000 with the extended warranty — and my problems started shortly thereafter. The sad truth is that I've hardly used this thing.
Over 112 emails back and forth and here's where we stand...
(Spoiler alert - none of this has been resolved).
Numerous failures and well over a dozen support tickets. A pump that has failed four or five times in two years. Even the simple light housing failed and filled with water.
Throughout this ordeal, I continued to receive marketing emails from plunge.com about their "new and improved" V2 plunge tub in September of 2025 - while mine sat unable to be used and waiting for repair.
For anyone who purchased prior to 2026, they are essentially a beta tester for plunge.com - a research and development project in order for them to raise funds and improve their *real* product that they finally released last year.
Anyone stuck with the 1st version is an afterthought, not a priority, and is stuck with a hodge-podge, halfway glued together piece of overpriced trash.
I eventually spoke to a representative (Brian) on the phone, who was friendly, but ultimately not able to offer a resolution.
Even without being used, the cover magnets fell off. The chiller stopped being able to read its own temperature, and ran nonstop until I noticed. Which caused my energy bills to spike to a high of $722 per month.
To say this has easily, hands down, been the absolute worst consumer product and customer experience I have ever had is a wild understatement.
It's insane that I even have to explain all of this - but here's the timeline:
In April 2026 the chiller finally quit — reading 122°F while the tub sat freezing. The tub isn't even capable of heating to over 100º
Not including the prior 4-5 support cases I had already had, here is what the most recent past 6 months of "support" has looked like:
April 28th of 2026 — I open a support ticket per usual.
June 28 — After 2 months, Plunge finally confirms the chiller needs to be replaced. The case goes to their warranty team.
July 9 — I file the claim. Their portal errors out.
July 26 — They tell me my voicemail box is full and close the claim. My voicemail has never been full, and I had replied the same day. Turns out they were calling the wrong phone number.
August 9 — They send *me* an invoice and tell me to submit documents to their warranty partner? A company I had never heard of in any of my prior dealings. I still have no idea why they would be expecting me to pay for their parts failure that is already covered under the warranty I purchased.
August 20 — A Plunge rep apologizes for the runaround and promises to take it off my plate. Verbatim: "I will handle communication with our warranty partners. You won't need to submit additional forms or log into new portals." That lasted all of 5 days.
August 25 — The same warranty team tells me to "use the current documents Plunge already provided," adding that "this follow-up does not include another copy." I asked what documents. Nobody could tell me.
September 2 — They ask me to upload "the Repair Invoice and Repair Justification Statement." I asked where, and what. No response.
September 5 — They ask whether I uploaded them.
September 15 — They apologize again and repeat that they won't ask me to submit anything further.
Meanwhile their warranty chain went like this:
Plunge told me to contact Clyde.
Clyde told me to contact XCover.
XCover told me to contact Fortegra.
Fortegra told me to contact Cover Genius.
Round and round we go.
I asked someone to just simply call me.
Nobody calls.
5 different entities to replace one chiller, via a warranty I bought directly from Plunge.
They also sent me a "How would you rate the support you received?" survey while the claim sat unresolved... lol
It is now September 30th of 2026.
The claim has been open since April and "under review" since July 15.
They told me 25 business days, then explained that isn't a guaranteed timeline.
They told me the replacement arrives within two business days of "payment". What payment? Nothing has progressed. Nothing has arrived. Nobody has called. I have asked "what documents" and "who am I speaking to," in those words, repeatedly.
This entire ordeal has wasted HOURS if not days of my life, thousands of dollars, and I completely regret buying anything from this brand.
Do not buy from this company. If anything ever goes wrong, you will spend years, thousands of dollars, and hundreds of emails with incapable people and numerous affiliate companies that all agree that the success of the plunge product, and the efficiency of their customer service is not their responsibility.
If I didnt purchase the warranty, I would have effectively just lit $6K on fire.
The only positive thing I have to say about Plunge is that their technicians are very friendly and professional

Chiller started leaking again but this…
Chiller started leaking again but this time after the 1 year manufactured warranty. Xcover won’t do anything unless I pay $795. Plunge isn’t helpful at all. I’d stay away from Plunge.

Deceitful practices, at best
Power supply to water pump died randomly. Reached out to order new power supply and they forced me to buy the entire water pump and accessory kit claiming “the new power supply is not compatible with the former water pump and requires you buy the entire pump kit.” After receiving the new pump kit, I checked the power supply against the old one and they are the same model, same specs, different manufacture date. The Plunge uses deceitful/misleading practices to extract money from unsuspecting consumers. Shame on them.
