The BBC should not be getting away with taking my image and displaying on thier website without license of r payment. Whilst you did recover me £75 an image ao rare would have brought at least that for the license alone let alone the fact they took it without permission

Thank you for sharing this, and for the five-plus years of trust. You’re right that it shouldn’t happen in the first place. We recovered a license fee for the BBC’s use, worked out from typical rates for that type and length of use. We know that doesn’t always feel like enough for something taken without permission. Your case manager is happy to talk it through, and to look at any other uses we’ve found of your work. Just reply to your case email.

I dislike the $200 fine for photographers
Response from PixsyOct 25, 2026
Hi Ian, thanks for the feedback. The $200 is a case cancellation fee. It only applies if a case is withdrawn after we've started work, or if a case turns out to be based on incorrect information, for example when the image was actually licensed. By then we've already researched the business and contacted it on your behalf, so the fee covers that work. We know it stings when it does apply. If you think it was charged in error, reply to your case email and we'll take another look.

In the event of a copyright…
In the event of a copyright infringement, the photographer is left with only $2,000 of the $7,000, with Pixsy taking the rest. This is almost a rip-off.

Hi Harry, thanks for the feedback, and we're sorry the result didn't feel fair. We'd like to understand what happened with your case. Reply to your case email and we'll go through it with you.

The service went downhill
I can't really justify the 5 stars I previously gave in Dec 2022.
Changes to the system seemed to mean I was wading through loads of previous matches all over again. Pages of them, after quite a long period with a few matches (mostly irrelevant) turning up.
I had a break from photography for a year, in order to study for a course and in January 2024 my Pro access was removed without any warning or discussion, leaving me with 8000+ unprotected images. Apparently I wasn't able to create enough cases from the hundreds of mismatches and matches in countries that were unsupported and previous cases I had ignored and were being served back to me. At no point did I know of any such threshold.
So, I could pay a rather large monthly fee to keep access, but on the other hand, many old cases, some going back years were unresolved. Any time I would ask about them, they would be discontinued within a few months. Even cases sent to solicitors were getting abandoned, after signing loads of forms and uploading documents and answering questions about my earnings. So there's no real incentive to subscribe, unless you just want to spend hours wading through pages to find people and sites using your image buried among hundreds of mismatches.
Ultimately, it appears Pixsy would rather sell subscriptions than provide a service. It's true that I benefited from free access after being supportive of their work on social media platforms and to other photographers in the early days.
But it is also true that Pixsy have made thousands out of my work, dumped me when it suited them to try and extract a subscription and have gradually morphed into a service that doesn't seem to carry out the legal threats it sends out.
So I have now disconnected my images after finding their customer support quite unhelpful and am simply waiting for them to abandon the final remaining cases before closing the account for good. I'm not sure what happened, but the service just doesn't see to be 5 star anymore.
I would say that all an infringer really has to do is ignore all letters and Pixsy will eventually just go away.

Hi James, thank you for the detailed feedback and for your support over the years. We're sorry the service hasn't felt the same, and that the change to your account came as a surprise. Every case is reviewed individually, and we look at all the options before deciding on next steps. If you'd like to talk it through, reply to any Pixsy email and we'll go through your account and remaining cases with you.

The time it took to response to my emails and waiting for 2 years before a resolution. The $$ amount first quoted was not accurate. The case managers kept changing. However, Barbara was very good, keeping me informed.
Response from PixsyOct 18, 2023
Hi James, Thanks for your feedback, and we are saddened to hear you did not have the best experience. In some cases, it can take many months or even years to reach a resolution, depending on the counterpart we are dealing with and if we need to try multiple different pathways. The amounts can also change depending on the final terms that are agreed upon in the resolution.
I have passed on your feedback to our team.

Be wary...
I'm not 100% sure that Pixsy is really out for protecting photographers. My experience with them thus far has been so-so. While a few cases have been completed, there are many cases still open after a whole year, and it seems there's nothing they can or will do to get those cases resolved. Worse is the cancellation fees if you choose to cancel a case that was submitted in error or if you were able to work things out with the infringing party directly. Pixsy should allow for a handful of "free" cancellations per user depending on the tier they pay monthly for.
Also, I feel we users of the service should have complete access to all documents, call logs, and emails that are sent to the infringing parties. Complete transparency is the hallmark of an honest service. I say this because it has come to my attention that the first few email attempts to a recent infringer did not even name ME or MY Business in the demand letter. I don't like that.

Hi John, thanks for your detailed feedback, and we are saddened to hear this about your experience. Our team works very hard to provide the best experience where we can. Depending on the counterpart and what escalation pathways we have in a certain country, some cases can take many months or even years to bring to a resolution.
In some cases, we do have to charge a cancellation fee, but we also waive this for the first cancellation when a small error is made.
We always refer to our client by name in external communications as we are your authorized agent.
I have passed on this feedback to our team.

Pixsy is not protecting my work from image theft, as it claims, as work licensed under creative commons is ignored by Pixsy.
Pixsy follows up on image theft in a limited number of countries only.
Latest cases show a significant downscale in license fee gathered (a third of what I sell images regularly).
Response from PixsyOct 25, 2026
Hi Falk, thanks for the feedback, and we're sorry the recent results felt disappointing. If you'd like to go through your cases, reply to your case email and we'll look at them with you.
