Thank you for sharing this, and for the five-plus years of trust. You’re right that it shouldn’t happen in the first place. We recovered a license fee for the BBC’s use, worked out from typical rates for that type and length of use. We know that doesn’t always feel like enough for something taken without permission. Your case manager is happy to talk it through, and to look at any other uses we’ve found of your work. Just reply to your case email.

Hi Steven, thank you for the honest feedback, and we’re sorry Pixsy didn’t feel worth your time. Takedown notices are designed to get an image removed, so they’re sent on your behalf as the copyright owner. That’s how they carry legal weight with the site and host. For commercial uses where you’d like to be paid, there’s a separate option: submit the match as a case and our case team takes it on, from the first letter to payment, with partner law firms where needed. It’s free to submit and we only take a fee if we recover money for you. We clearly didn’t explain that well enough, and that’s on us. If you’d like to look at your past matches together, reply to any Pixsy email and a case manager will go through them with you.
