The idea behind Pixsy is sound
The idea behind Pixsy is sound. The execution is not. To be honest, I did not expect Pixsy to send takedown notices from my own email address. I thought they would actually advocate for me and help secure the rights to my photographs. That never happened. In the end, they did nothing for me except send emails that look as if I wrote them. I could have done that myself. There was no representation, no enforcement beyond those notices, and no meaningful help protecting my work. It was simpler and more effective to take every photo I had online down and stop sharing them. I wish they would have been clearer about what this “service” actually is so I could have made a better decision and not wasted my time and money. The idea behind Pixsy is sound. The execution is not.

Hi Steven, thank you for the honest feedback, and we’re sorry Pixsy didn’t feel worth your time. Takedown notices are designed to get an image removed, so they’re sent on your behalf as the copyright owner. That’s how they carry legal weight with the site and host. For commercial uses where you’d like to be paid, there’s a separate option: submit the match as a case and our case team takes it on, from the first letter to payment, with partner law firms where needed. It’s free to submit and we only take a fee if we recover money for you. We clearly didn’t explain that well enough, and that’s on us. If you’d like to look at your past matches together, reply to any Pixsy email and a case manager will go through them with you.
