The Purobot Max 3 identifies cats primarily through weight measurement. For more accurate results, please make sure the litter box is placed on a hard, level floor and not on a carpet or mat, as an uneven surface can affect the weight readings. If your cats have very similar weights, the device may also have difficulty distinguishing between them accurately. We recommend checking that the weight data for each cat in the PETKIT App is correctly set and keeping the device on a stable, hard surface. The statement “If you preferred the old-fashioned way” refers to using the device’s top control panel without opening the app for everyday essential functions, such as Instant Clean, Odor Control, Litter Leveling, Maintenance Mode, and Wi-Fi Setup. It does not mean that the full product experience can be accessed without the PETKIT App or that an account is not required for app-related features. The product page also states that we recommend pairing the device with the PETKIT App because the full feature set is available there. We apologize if the wording gave you a different impression.
