I found the prices a bit extreme for a product that I don't believe has to be like that. It's a great service but I believe like most companies you are tugging on the heart strings of people who live their pets.

I was sent six (6) little tags with only main phone #. Would like at least four with an alternative back up #. Is this possible? TY

It was difficult to figure out the tag size and look. I did not see that my dog's name was already going to be on the tag. I entered her name in the provided line and ended up with a tag that says her name on it twice. Maybe I missed it.

I adopted my dog from a shelter. The family who first had my dog had him microchipped using Petkey. I called Petkey to update the information on file and, after no one responded to a message I left, I called a week later and was able to speak to someone. I was told I had to pay $70+ to change my dog's information to my contact details or it would stay with the previous owner's info! This had been paid for once, when he was microchipped - I feel it is unethical and nearly extortion to not update the information unless one pays this price! He was not being microchipped a 2nd time! I went ahead and paid because what good is the microchip if the information on hand is not correct - but feel this is unjust. It was nice to receive a couple supplies I did not need (a lighted leash and lighted color - even though the collar is too bulky when made small enough for my pup) but I neither asked for nor required this merchandise. I simply wanted to update my name, address and phone number and paid a ridiculous price to do so. Therefore, I have not had a bad experience with their "services" per se, as I have not needed them yet - but I do take issue with their business practices.

I adopted my dog from a rescue. He already had a microchip which was registered with PetKey. When I called to transfer my dog's microchip, the person I dealt with was very polite and efficient. She told me the charge would be $79, which seemed rather high, but I wanted my dog registered to me in case he was ever lost. I didn't realize I was paying for a lighted collar and leash, id cards etc. which I will never use. All I wanted to do was register my dog's microchip in my name. The person I dealt with did not adequately explain that she was selling me more than just changing the registration for my dog. (One month later) ALTHOUGH I WAS UNHAPPY WITH MY INITIAL EXPERIENCE WITH PETKEY, I DID RECEIVE AN IMMEDIATE RESPONSE FROM THE ABOVE REVIEW AND THE MONEY I PAID WAS REFUNDED. I OFFERED TO RETURN THE MERCHANDISE BUT WAS TOLD TO KEEP IT. SINCE I WON’T USE THESE ITEMS, I WILL DONATE THE LIGHTED COLLAR AND LEASH TO THE LOCAL HUMANE SOCIETY.

The tag is very thin and will probably wear out fast

Expensive and from out of state. I had intended to use a different company and was surprised by the price - should have clued me in.

The microchip is fine and our vet confirmed it is operative and the number is correct; with this part of PetKey I have no complaint. My beef is that when activating the chip we were required to purchase extraneous merchandise (leash, collar and I don’t remember what else) that we didn’t want and won’t be able to use. That is a rip-off.
