The worse experience dealing with Penske used truck sales. We dealt with the lady by the name of Martha Hanna, not sure if it's her or the support behind her but she brought us to our knees. It has been 2 months since we paid for the truck and brought it in. However, we cannot register it and use as Penske has failed to provide title, temp tags or plates. There are multiple emails and phone calls to Penske that remain unanswered. They simply don't care. They by far are the worse run organization we have ever done business with. The whole process was extremely tedious and time consuming. We had to sent paperwork multiple times, some time the same thing over and over and the other time change it to something else and then change it back to the original. Finally, we cleared everything, received the truck and not it's been 2 months, begging them to send the paperwork so we can actually use the truck. Almost, seems like they thrive off of misery of other people. These people are awful and incompetent, stay away from them.

Right off the bat, truck was dirty from being picked up in Corvallis Oregon.Had to go to local penske contractor for windshield to be washed and washer fluid added. ABS lights came on in NM, told we had a very long wait time (over 90 minutes, however, we were near TA truck stop and got serviced. Possibly no required maintenance was performed for this vehicle’s required maintenance cycle. Couple hundred miles down the road, seat belt shoulder strap locks you into place with very slight movement, and I mean choking tight! Have to undo seatbelt entirely to release the tension, now it’s stuck behind the seat which makes the lap belt void for use. What a piece of sh*t Truck I got on this trip.I do not recommend this 16ft Penske Truck for long distance travel until you can verify vehicle was properly cleaned and serviced. VEHICLE # 91629379 With that said, I have never had issues with Penske Trucks before and I have used them for all my out of state moves.

Rented truck through Home Depot they were fine there , that evening while loaded it poured rain trucked leaked through the roof soaking items for our daughter’s wedding. Contacted Penske to make an adjustment but no pics no price break. They didn’t even take it out of service. Customer service people terrible would never rent there again

1500 dollars higher than uhaul but I went with it. Wanted a 22 ft truck and car trailer. I was assured it would be available. Drove to Wareham from Seekonk Mass. Only the 26 was in stock I said that's fine what about the car trailer. They replied it's on the way. Called 3 times it's on the way. Waited almost 3 hours no show no call nothing. Complete liars. Do not believe anything they have to say! Wouldn't you know I checked my bank account 2 days later they took $100 out!

We rented a 22-foot diesel truck and a trailer to tow a minivan. Driving up a long hill on I-80, we heard a loud clunk. The engine overheated and we pulled over onto the breakdown lane. We immediately called Penske for assistance. Every time a truck whizzed by us - and there were many - our cab shook. It was a harrowing experience. Penske made us sit for nearly 4 hours in their broken truck on busy I-80: It took 1 hour, 48 minutes for a mechanic to arrive only to tell us that we needed a tow. So, he left us, sitting ducks on the side of the highway. Then another 2 hours for the tow truck to arrive, hook us up and drive us off the interstate. Yet our ordeal was not yet over. We waited another 4.5 hours for the replacement truck to arrive. Then 2.25 hours to transfer our contents to the new truck and hook up the trailer. In total, we were delayed 10.5 hours. To top this off, two mechanics stated that Penske trucks break down like this all the time. Bottom line: Penske does not properly maintain their truck fleet. Penske endangers lives. Do not trust them with your business.

1) I never received confirmation of my booking, either by phone or email, so I had to spend time on the phone tracking down whether or I had a truck reserved, 2) the person I reached by phone for the confirmation tried to charge me more per mile than the person who did the original booking via phone, 3) I was told I would be charged one day rental plus 3 hours late fee, which was a lie, 4) the loading ramp had been removed from the truck that I rented, 5) when I picked up the truck, no clear instructions about return were provided, and the agent did not go over the rental agreement, which had a previously unmentioned “local security deposit” of $106.64, 6) Penske required me to provide biometric data so they can sell it, 7) it is now 4 days after the return of the truck, and I still have not received a final invoice.

I rented a refrigerated truck from Penske on 3/17/26. I’d called 3 months prior to ensure that their trucks were reliable. The truck was going to hold 23k retail value worth of product. Upon check out I’d been told by Ailton that the truck was good to go and that the reefer (refrigerated unit) had been inspected. The truck took 7 hours to reach the desired temperature. We started loading our prep in the unit at night and on the next day all of our dough was over-proofed. Upon looking in the cabin I found that it was absolutely TRASHED. Going back to Penske and telling Ailton was the biggest waste of time. I spoke with his manager Ricky who did absolutely nothing to help me. The refrigerated truck was comp’d and they gave me a 4 day rental (also comp’d), to go pick up my set up in San Diego (2 hours away), bring it back on a Thursday, and go set up again on a Saturday to mitigate my losses. Penske also begrudgingly covered my fuel costs. For context, it was a two day event and we were set to sell 900 pizzas on day 1. All of which was lost due to poor maintenance and negligence on Penske’s part. The cabin was riddled with holes, had missing panels, insulation was exposed and missing. Long story short, Ricky the regional manger cited a clause that even if Penske is found to be negligent they’re not responsible for any losses. Which I understand; however, given their prestigious reputation one would expect that everything would be inspected, and professionally maintained. Lastly, I was present when a tech came out and said that the reefer (cooling unit) was faulty, and that coupled with the damaged cabin would make it impossible for it to cool and maintain the desired temperature. I WILL NEVER RENT FROM PENSKE AGAIN.

I had one of the worst rental experiences I’ve ever dealt with, and it still has not been properly resolved. This was a local Penske rental (Reservation #14346425, Truck ID #91626368). The truck broke down at approximately 4:30 PM and left me stranded on the side of the highway for roughly 4.5–7 hours waiting for assistance. What followed was complete chaos: Over 20 phone calls between Penske, dispatch, and towing companies 4 tow trucks dispatched — 3 either canceled or never showed Constant conflicting information and no real coordination A “solution” from Penske that created even more work and expense for us Because of the breakdown and lack of support, I had to: Pay $294.98 out of pocket for towing Pay $170 cash for emergency movers just to unload the truck Pay for fuel for a replacement vehicle Purchase supplies to secure the disabled truck and our belongings Delay our move and make additional trips because our belongings had to be held overnight I also took time off work specifically to complete this move and lost income, only to end up stranded on the side of the road unable to finish it as planned. On top of all of this: There were still unexplained and pending charges on my account I had to personally coordinate cancellations, extensions, and logistics Communication from Penske was inconsistent throughout the entire process After everything, Penske refunded only $543, which does not fully cover the out-of-pocket costs caused directly by their equipment failure, much less the additional time, stress, lost work, and logistical nightmare this created. A truck breaking down is one thing. Leaving customers stranded for hours with failed roadside dispatches, poor communication, and incomplete reimbursement afterward is another. If you’re considering Penske, understand that if something goes wrong, you may be completely on your own to deal with it — and pay for it yourself. Their advertised “90-minute roadside assistance guarantee” was meaningless in my experience, and the level of support I received from this company was unacceptable from start to finish.
