We reserved a truck at Penske paid almost 2000 dollars (already paid for)
We broke down in RV had to pay 50 dollars for a ride to okc because we were more then an hour outside of town on I-40 we called and let them know they said they would hold truck , we told them we would be here at noon, we showed up at 12:03 and they let our truck go , so after sitting here about 15 min they tell us they will try to have a truck here in 30 min or so , this is ridiculous, I wish I wouldn’t have prepaid because this is poor customer service

Went to go pick up my 26' moving truck…
NEVER RENT FROM PENSKE TRUCK RENTALS! Went to pick up my 26' moving truck today on 9/26/26. They sent me a confirmation email to pick up my truck. I got there, and they said they had no truck for me, and there were none in town. You will have to check Budget or U-Haul. No, sorry, no one reached out to me before I got there to let me know. They left me scrambling. No care for the movers I have booked, and they completely screwed up everything. This was my one and only experience with Penske, and I will NEVER recommend or use them again. Apparently, this is common with this business.

Extremely Disappointing and Stressful…
Extremely Disappointing and Stressful Experience — I Would Not Use Penske Again
I chose Penske because, before making my reservation, I had read that Penske was known for maintaining its trucks well and providing reliable moving equipment. That reputation was one of the main reasons I decided to go with Penske instead of another moving truck company. Unfortunately, my actual experience was completely different from what I expected.
During my move, the Penske truck broke down, and we were left dealing with the consequences for more than six hours. This was not a minor inconvenience. When you're in the middle of a long-distance move, every hour matters. We had a carefully planned schedule, people coordinating the move, unloading arrangements, and a destination we needed to reach. Losing more than six hours because of a truck failure created a major disruption to the entire move.
What made the situation even more frustrating was that I had specifically chosen Penske because I believed I was paying for a more reliable and properly maintained moving truck. A breakdown of this magnitude completely undermined the reason I chose the company in the first place.
The lost time had a direct financial impact as well. A moving truck isn't just transportation — when you're moving, delays can affect labor, schedules, accommodations, fuel, appointments, unloading help, and other arrangements that have already been paid for or scheduled. Once the truck broke down, everything became more complicated, stressful, and expensive.
Moving is already one of the most stressful things a person can go through. When you rent a moving truck from a nationally recognized company, you expect the vehicle to be roadworthy, dependable, and capable of completing the trip without a major mechanical failure. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Penske.
I am especially disappointed because I made my decision based on Penske's reputation for taking care of its equipment. After what happened to me, I have a very difficult time understanding how this truck was considered ready for a long-distance move.
I have been involved in real estate, and moving, transporting property, and dealing with contractors and service companies are things I take seriously. Reliability and accountability matter tremendously in this business. Based on this experience, I would have a very difficult time recommending Penske to someone who needs dependable transportation for a move.
After this experience, I would not rent from Penske again, and I cannot recommend Penske to others. The six-plus hours we lost were extremely costly and disruptive, and the entire experience turned what was already a stressful move into a truly horrifying and exhausting situation.
I sincerely hope Penske takes situations like this seriously and takes a closer look at its vehicle inspection and maintenance procedures. Customers are trusting these trucks to transport their homes, belongings, and livelihoods across significant distances. They deserve equipment that is properly inspected, maintained, and reliable.
For me, this experience completely changed my opinion of Penske. I chose the company because I thought I was choosing reliability. Unfortunately, that is not what I received.

BOX TRUCK NIGHTMARE
I WAS PLANNING ON MOVING WITH MY FAMILY GOT TOTALLY HARRASSED TO MOVE TO A 26 FOOT OR 22 FOOT TRUCK BECAUSE THEY SAID "WE NEED BIG TRUCKS WHERE YOUR GOING NOT LITTLE ONES" SO AS A FAVOR TO THEM I AGREED TO TAKE A 22 FOOT TRUCK EVEN THOUGH I CALLED FOR A VAN OR SMALLEST BOX TRUCK. 3 DAYS AGO THEY TELL ME I NOW HAVE TO TAKE A 26 FOOTER AS THAT IS WHAT THEY NEED UP THERE NOW. I SAID I DON'T WANT THAT AND WE NEED TO FIX IT. THEY GOT PISSED AND AGREED TO CANCEL IT BECAUSE OF THEIR CRAP! THESE ASSHATS TRIED CHARGING ME ALMOST 300 DOLLARS GUYS! I AM DISABLED #1 #2 THEY VOIDED ANY AGREEMENT WHEN THEY DECIDED ON WHAT I NEED TO DRIVE AND NOT WHAT I ASKED TO DRIVE! I MAKE LESS THAN 1K A MONTH! I DON'T LEAVE MANY REVIEWS SO THE ONES I DO I LEAVE ARE FOR OTHERS LIKE ME WHO ARE ALREADY STRUGGLING FINANCIALLY AND THEY CAN AVOID DISHONEST STAFF AND COMPANIES! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ⚠️ DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Charged for No Product or Service
I reserved a truck on July 20, 2026. Plans changed and on August 4, 2026, I called to cancel the truck. Even though I had not received a product, or service, Penske charged 401.33 to my credit card. Five days have passed and the money has not been refunded to my credit card. I was told it would take 7-10 business days to receive the refund. Why is Penske charging ANYTHING to a credit card prior to you actually picking up the truck? Keeping your money for nearly two weeks is theft, as well as poor business operations. I will never use Penske again.

Crooks need a negative rating
If I could give a negative star I would. Why would you charge 287.00 as a fee for no show??? That was not disclosed when I made the RESERVATION. When I tried to call, no one was available to pick up the phone. I want a refund but I know that this type of thuggery is accepted in America. So I know I won’t get one. If you get 10 people to make a reservation and they don’t keep it, along with convenient lack of communication, it could mean a cool million a year for NOTHING!!! Not a bad haul. Crooks. The lady that helped me was incompetent and she did not warn me about how I was about to be robbed by yet another American corporation. Yall suck! 👎🏽

Back to U-Haul we go
We completed an 8 hour, very tedious move late last night in the worst truck we have ever rented. It all started in the rental office when the kind lady let us know that the truck she was giving us had been returned with “a little less than 3/4 tank, so we just needed to return it with 3/4 of a tank of gas”. I was confused because why are we being asked to return it with more than it has in it when we pick it up. Also, I have never been given a truck that wasn’t full of fuel, is this standard practice for Penske now? When we got to the gas station we noticed it only had half a tank, not a little less than 3/4 of a tank.
The truck had 99K+ miles on it and we noted it was in rough shape overall the moment we stepped inside. There was spilled soda across the dashboard, dog hair all over the cab including the entire passenger seat. We travel with our pups a lot as well, but we will roll out the vehicle before we return it, and it was clear Penske didn’t clean it up at all when it was returned. There was also a center seat folded up when we got in the truck, so we assumed it was bolted into the truck, we were wrong! When we came to an abrupt stop on the interstate during our move, the seat flew forward and slammed into our arms. Very painful, but more than that, so very dangerous. We then had to pull over and secure it in the back of the truck - thankfully we had room. In addition to all of this, the loud screeching sound coming from where the trailer meets the back of the cab was unbearable! This went on for the entire 8 hour trip, and I have a video of this for you as well. I tried stuffing towels up into the area where they meet to get it to stop, to no avail.
We could hardly hear each other speak once we got on the interstate.
A few years ago we stopped renting from U-Haul, and switched to Penske due to the poor condition of the U-haul vehicles. Penske has always been more expensive to rent, but it has been worth it to get vehicles that are newer and well maintained. Sadly, I paid $150 more to rent from Penske this time, and the truck was worse than any U-Haul truck I have ever rented.

I recommend that you avoid renting from Penske
I recommend that you avoid renting from Penske. It's "Administration Fee" for paying an electronic toll is $25.00! That is outrageous, it has absolutely no bearing on Penske's minimal actual costs, and it is wildly more than most vehicle rental fee agreements -- for instance, Enterprise, National, and Alamo all have $4.95 toll administration fees, which is less than 20% what Penske charges. If Penske acts this outrageously for such a minimal admin task, I cannot imagine the nonsense it will engage in if a problem arises. This is a gouge of hard-working Americans who need to rent a vehicle from a company that is making money hand-over-fist. All this being said, if you have a FasTrak, AS SOON AS YOU GET THE TRUCK, ADD ITS LICENSE TO YOUR ACCOUNT -- AND AS SOON AS YOU RETURN THE TRUCK, REMOVE ITS LICENSE FROM YOUR ACCOUNT!
