The best way to build your future is to…
The best way to build your future is to invest in yourself...and that's EXACTLY what I did. I found out about the PASS Program from an organization I am in which has MD/DO students, residents, and attendings from all over the US/international. The first time someone asked about Step prep resources the chat lit up with that GOLDEN name "Dr. Francis." I was no where near ready for step but I took note and told myself when its my time for step prep I need to come back and research more about this doctor that everyone so eagerly mentioned. Then about a year later I was ready for step and given a step deadline from my university. Like any other medical student i was scared I have to admit and I felt no where near ready for step. Then as any other medical student does I reached out to my mentors who knew how I preform academically, testing anxiety, and etc. They both just finished the PASS program and honestly told me about how much the program helped them and how "they wish this is how they learned the information the first time." Now if my mentors talked about anything that highly I knew I had to invest in myself and see what the program would do for me. So i was still scared but signed up 2 days before my 5 week session, prayed about it, and hoped to become one of those students that would rave about this mysterious "Dr. Francis." PASS program is for anyone and everyone who wants to be confident in not only passing step but wants to be a medical professional who can manage a pt without relying on a pocket manual for every single change in a patient's management. You don't learn how to memorize a disease but how to manage a disease a pt has. You learn normal then are able to follow what the abnormality is, how PEx will present, lab values, BASICALLY EVERYTHING. Also this is not one of those programs where you just get lectured at, Dr. Francis will catch you off guard and call your name rephrase the scenario and make sure you are really understanding. He WILL ask you if you truly understand give me a connection and not that stuff in First Aid that we are told to memorize but a real world connection or an additional system that can be affected. If I could I would write a novel about the PASS program but out of the x-amount of dollars I've spent for my medical education so far this has been the BEST INVESTMENT for my future. I will surely be back for Step 2 prep and Step 3.
