The website predicates the belief that this is a discount outlet, NOT. The website was also "Glitchy" couldn't scroll smoothly, it froze when I sought out reviews. So why do companies keep telling the newscasters they are competing with a steep online shopping presence, when anyone who has EVER purchased online knows that only frustration would drive you there? So business CEO's can create the idea that online purchasing is the "wave of the future," reducing their brick and mortar presence and making other changes to transform their business MO's to accommodate that, appears to be justified. Not convinced? Think about it. This is online shopping at its best for the CEO. You eliminate most employees, eliminate having to deal with those "pesky" customers that make you rich, in many cases, opt for a cheaper or knockoff product if you wish because you will raise the company's profit margin at the expense of the customer for whom you have no empathy or respect, and no one is the wiser, once you have taken the customers money? For the Customer, the online shopping experience may look like this...You find a product to try; you have a purchase price and reviews you can't access or are paid for; you usually pay inflated postage costs and possibly taxes, often often these are not disclosed until the purchase is complete; you endure a wait of varying and unpredictable length; and if the product turns out to be unsatisfactory (you know, doesn't do what is promised?) in the case of some websites, including Overstock.com, you probably can not return it...boom! You were taken for a ride and its all without consequence to the company.
