i do medical billing have for 20 years in my experience uhc,optum,umr,the empire plan and oxford anything in the UHC unbrella are the worst when it comes to processing a claim . all they do is request documentation , med records , lab reports and then 80% of time they advise us that the documentation doesnt support the treatment given . i think they are a scam garbage company takes premiums from patients and dont pay the doctors for treatment given . they get a 1 star review because i couldnt give 0 . if the patient didnt need the surgery they wouldnt have been operated , what you think we just do it for fun (you dont pay most claims ,so its not for the money) or just because we want to do free surgery , no . we would like to be compensated for our service to the policy holders , we are saving lives and doing life changing surgery , and you dont pay for it . if i had to describe uhc and their affiliates in one word it would be "garbage" .

I was out of state in Mid Feb. Had to get IV's to come home. Optum nurse at hospital, explained. All good. flew home with med. Told local office would follow. Got home to find that office had closed. Newest office 6 hours away. Should have known this from the start. Nurses were great over the phone. Mailed meds. All good. Problem is the billing dept. Same date for charges that were not that date, email bills sent to wrong email, updated and not changed. Nothing on bills about insurance payments or if insurance had been billed. Called multiple times. Person I had today was good and sending things updated in mail but their billing department is terrible!

Double billed me on my prescription refill. When I called them they were were combative and assured me that they did NOT double bill me. My credit union made sure that the second charge was removed. A few weeks later I got an email from Optum apologizing for double billing me. They suck.

Optum is not just a badly run company, it is dishonest and willfully uncooperative and unresponsive to consumers. They need to be shut down by the Justice Department. I have never had a reasonable, stress-free interaction with Optum Health. They refused to honor legitimate claims to my FSA account, and they are now denying payment for treatment that was pre-authorized. Optum Health is a thoroughly unscrupulous organization that should be driven out of the health care industry.

Absolute disaster of a company. I can't collect my money without fighting with them every time I submit the same claim. I submit the same claim every quarter with the same documentation and it gets reject every time with no real explanation. I have to call and talk to a supervisor every time to get it approved. This last time I've had to call twice and it's still not approved. What joke the amount stress and time wasted to collect MY money.

Tried 6 separate times to get OptumRX to bill a secondary insurance. Each time I was either hung-up on, given the run-around or sent to Tricare, Medicare or United Healthcare, all of which had nothing to do with the problem. You can't get anyone in the United States, instead you have to deal with people in the Philippines who have absolutely no concept of American Healthcare. OptumRX is obviously another big corporation who farms out customer service in order to benefit the CEO's bottom line.

My wife has Multiple Sclerosis and requires infusion therapy every 6 months. We have been fortunate to have the medication manufacturer help us with out of pocket maximum deductibles for the past few years as the infusion costs are in excess of $70,000. For the first time, my wife received her infusion at home in January of this year. Optum has messed up the processing of the paperwork so badly that we will ultimately come out of pocket over $10,000 and it's only May. We have spent over 40 collective hours on the phone with Optum, the drug manufacturer, and United Health Care and no one has been able to help. In fact, it's been a vicious cycle of finger pointing between them all. In the meantime, we are paying full price for medications, therapy, etc. PLEASE use someone else for your infusion needs and prevent this experience from happening to you and your family.

The worst medical group I have ever dealt with. The Dr.'s are good Murry Hill), Everything else is horrible from the phone systems, to the portal. I'm only using them, because my internist is there. If you are not established with a Dr. there, I would recommend not to use.
