Exemplifies everything wrong with the American healthcare "industry". Companies like this one are why we pay more for health care and get less out of it than any other country. I hung up after being on hold for *3 hours* last night because I had to go to bed... after spending my evening with my ear glued to an earpiece to try to get information on a prescription that is out of stock. My problem could have been solved in a few minutes, but they chose to ignore me just like they ignore most of their customers. I wondered how long they would actually keep me on hold before answering. The answer is, "until you give up." Or your phone dies, or you die of old age. If there is a Hell, the people who run that company and profit from it are definitely going there. And there they will listen to that smarmy hold music for eternity... And every 1 minute a soothing condescending voice will intone "we apologize for the extended delay. your time is very important to us! please stay on the line and someone will be with you shortly."

I have my annual dr. appt and received a piece of paper that if I discuss anything outside of a minuscule set of requirements with my doctor than I’ll be charged for an office visit rather than an annual dr. Appt. This is ridiculous. I am outraged that I will be charged if I discuss anything outside of their little rules

Solid 1 star. If anybody thinks its any more, then this person had an unusual (and I can assure short lived) experience with this company. It apparently was and definitely is now a horrible business. Complete mess, staff usually is trying to make customers do what actually is responsibility of the staff; when they indeed do what they should its like playing roulette - more often than not its not done or not done properly. Every single thing requires multiple calls and every time you talk to them its like you never called before, its all over again. On top, the drugs they provide are often from non-reputable suppliers from India and China, in some cases kicked out of some other countries due to quality control and contamination issues which pose a health threat. So some of the drugs they promise cost less from them than local pharmacy but in the end its not a high price to pay $10 more per month for the privilege of never having to deal with Optum. The only worse company I can think of is their system division - Optum Bank, who manages HSA and FSA accounts. Id rather deal with SSA than with either of these two. Which says a lot.

Optum RX is connected with our healthcare policy, so I thought mail order might be easier than making trips to the pharmacy... WRONG!!! Of the 4 prescriptions I have needed to fill over the past two months every single one has required MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS to get straightened out! Multiple billing issues, etc. The time involved has been so much greater than waiting in line at the retail pharmacy. I should have read the reviews beforehand. They are an awful company to work with.

I have been a diabetic for years. I switched insurance and have OPTUMRx. Now I cannot get authorization for my diabetic medication. My authorization was denied because my A1c "WHILE TAKING MY MEDICATION" was at acceptable levels. Isn't that what the medication is for? Now I have to go through a lengthy appeal process (which can take up to 30 days after they receive the appeal) to see if I can get approved. So what happens without the medication? I have no clue but I'll bet it is not good. DENY, DENY, DENY! Patient health comes last!

Avoid Optum Health Group ( optum . com ), they are either very poor at their job or thieves. I went to Optum for Annual Physical on Jan 31.2024. The whole point of the annual physical, which is 100% covered by my insurance, it that I also get a discount from my insurance if I go a doctor and get annual physical. A month after my pyhysical I get a surprise unexpected bill for $395. I can my insurance and Optum apparently didn't submit my annual physical as an annual physical but something else instead to try and nickle and dime me. Thus I also don't get my annual physical checkbox at my insurance for the discount. Numerous attempts at trying to explain this to them have not lead anywhere. Now I need to find a new doctor not with Optum to get my annual physical so I can get the discount, the Optum visit was just a waste of time and money and I got nothing out if it. What a trash company.

I called to get a quote for meds that my doctor prescribed because the CVS Pharmacy price was to much. OPTUM RX quoted me a price that was $20 lower than CVS so I ordered the meds thru OPTUM. When my bill came, the cost was the same as CVS. I called OPTUM and explained what happened but got nowhere. They duped me BUYER BEWARE THEY ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS. OPTUM HAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST THEM. U CAN'T TRUST THEM

My doctor sent 2 prescriptions to this specialty pharmacy. When I called them, they only sent me 1 of them and didn't say anything about the other one. 1 week later, I'm calling and asking why the most important order was completely missed. The woman, Michelle, took really long time, almost mocking me, asking me to repeat my number, then repeating it herself, and asking me to repeat it after herself again (REALLY??!). When I refused to repeat it for the 3rd time, she said she could not serve me and there's nobody she could transfer me to. So now not only they completely missed a very important order, there's no way I can still order it!!! I hope they go out of business as this is not the way to treat customers who you've already failed.
