Do not use Openbank!!! I tried to open an account with Openbank just now. Was declined with no explantation. I then tried to call customer service, which you can not speak with unless you have an existing profile. Lots of personal info- what happened to it???????????

I opened a savings account online with Open Bank on Nov 29, 2025. On 12/1, I got an email saying the account was ready to fund. I went to their, Open Banks, website and set up an ACH transfer from another online bank to fund the new account. Open Bank immediately blocked my new account and would not give any reason why. Since the account was blocked in the middle of this transfer, it caused my original bank to suspect something fraudulant was going on, so they froze my account on their end. After several calls over 30 days with no one willing or able to give me any reason for the blockage, they (Open Bank) sent me an email saying they were closing the account. Again, no reason given. I would suggest anyone considering doing business with Santander Bank (Open Bank) RUN the other direction. These people are officially and completely insane!

Horrible experience!!!! I would give it a negative star if I could. I was denied twice online stating they could not verify my identification. I gave my passport, my SSN, my Photo ID.. what more do they want from me. Customer Service Diana was horrible. She was zero help, and no manager to talk to. They couldn't pull up my information to see why my application was denied. Total thumbs down.

This bank is very misleading. They dont tell you in advance that you will be forced to download their mobile app in order to access your account. When I tried to close the account and move my initial deposit to another bank without that ridiculous rule, my funds were shown as unavailable and the customer service was not helpful at all. I cannot wait to get my money out of this account and away from this scam of a bank!

Openbank rejected my spouse as a joint account owner and could not provide any explanation. She has the same surname, address and has excellent credit score and multiple joint accounts with me. Closing account and going back to a bank that is more cooperative.

I tried to give some funds to three different online banks for opening a HY Savings account. One completely failed to work, one quickly rejected my application, and one rejected it after several days. There was no explanation as to the reasons for rejection or any offer to resubmit to correct errors. After these very frustrating and time wasting experiences, I was very surprised when my Openbank application went smoothly and quickly. It was the only bank for which I could download the Mobile App without already having a preexisting account. The app itself is simple and easy to use. It was really a joy compared to the other banks who didn't want my money. I can see many others are finding that the bank provides poor service and it is too soon for me to speak to that, but this bank sure puts the others to shame when it comes to opening an online account.
