We scheduled an appointment with OnTech to have our cameras installed more than three weeks in advance, only to be notified just two hours before the scheduled appointment that it had been canceled without any reasonable explanation.
The customer service representatives were not properly trained to handle customer inquiries. We were repeatedly placed on hold and transferred from one representative to another before we were finally able to request a refund.
This was an extremely disappointing experience. The lack of communication, poor customer service, and last-minute cancellation were unacceptable. Based on our experience, I would not recommend using this company.

Just awful.
This appointment was an absolute failure by ANY measure or metric. First, my appointment was delayed three hours. This seemed like a common occurrence by the representatives I interacted with.
Next, the technician seemed to have no real idea of how to do her job. She placed sensor after sensor without even wiping the surface. As a result all three of the motion sensors she placed in my house fell off the wall within 48 hours of her placing them. She placed an entry sensor on the outdoor, dust-covered surface of my back door. I expect it to fall soon as well.
Lastly, I paid for a professional installation of an outdoor camera which she informed me was simply placing two screws into the mount and then plugging it in. Wiring it in to the wall was a whole separate charge and would require another appointment.
At that point, I said not to worry about the outdoor camera and please just finish up as I had to walk my dogs. I had delayed their walk due to waiting for this thrice postponed appointment. She said okay and offered to refund the extra fee for the camera. I said fine and she left. My system was not finished being setup or initialized. I had to figure out how to do that after she left.
All said, I paid $200 or so for an unfinished task a child could have accomplished with more success.

As Bad as Stralink
Have been trying to get internet through Starlink for 2 months. They sent Ontech to assist but they still couldn’t bring it in. I made an appointment to have Ontech remove satellite in dangerous place on roof
They lost the order to remove it

Standard up front construction cost are…
Standard up front construction cost are around 10-30% of purchase price. This company requires 100% up front. Example, I’m not paying you up front 100% to paint my house am I? Once work is done and paid up front there is no reason to do the right thing!

Absolutely terrible experience.
Absolutely terrible experience.
This company delayed our Starlink installation for nearly TWO WEEKS because of scheduling mistakes and poor communication, costing us another full Spectrum billing cycle we would not have needed otherwise. After all of that waiting, the technician showed up already seeming determined not to do the install.
He refused to even get on a ladder to inspect the structure. Instead, he stood on the ground trying to describe the roof as some kind of “tarp-like” material even though he admitted he did not actually know what the material was. At first, he spoke to his boss as if the install location was simply the main house roof. After I repeatedly clarified that this was actually a detached awning/carport structure, he then started treating the awning as if it was automatically the exact same TPO roofing system as the house without ever physically checking or verifying the material.
The problem is that TPO roofing is not some fragile “can’t touch it” surface like he was implying. TPO is an extremely common commercial and residential roofing system specifically designed for durability, weather resistance, and long-term outdoor exposure. These roofs regularly have HVAC systems, satellite dishes, antennas, vents, solar equipment, and mounted hardware installed on them every single day across Florida and the rest of the country.
Our roof itself survived Hurricane Milton along with heavy falling tree branches without damage, yet this technician acted like mounting a Starlink dish would somehow destroy the structure or immediately create catastrophic leaks.
The awning itself is also a fully secured structure cemented into the ground on every support post. There is no interior drywall, attic, insulation, or enclosed living space underneath it that could realistically suffer the type of interior leak damage they kept warning about. We even explained that the home itself is already planned for demolition within the next 6-8 months because a completely new structure is expected to be built on the property, yet they still refused to even properly inspect or evaluate the install location before denying the work.
The most frustrating part is that NONE of these supposed restrictions or concerns were disclosed beforehand. Had they simply communicated this during scheduling, we could have hired another installer instead of wasting weeks waiting and paying for another unnecessary Spectrum billing cycle.
And after refusing to properly inspect or evaluate the property, the “solution” offered was basically “we can leave you the mount and you install it yourself.”
So after wasting our time, costing us money, delaying service, and refusing to meaningfully assess the property, their answer was essentially to make the customer do the job themselves.
Customer service afterward was no better. Nobody would clarify company policy, nobody would escalate the issue, and apparently nobody in the company could answer basic questions about what their installers are actually allowed to do.
If you want a company that actually evaluates the property before refusing work, communicates honestly, and respects your time, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

They Don't Listen
One month ago I paid you folks to install my newly rented Starlink Standard 4X kit. Before the installation I called to ask if I needed to buy a pole mount adapter to reuse my old dish’s rooftop mounting post. I was told “no, the tech has everything needed for an installation and it’s all included in your price.” The tech came to install the kit. one month ago today. I mentioned that we have a lot of wind and that a pole mount would be much preferable to just putting the antenna lying loose on the roof. But he told me that there was no adapter that could mount the new antenna on my existing pole (1.75” OD). So he installed the antenna using its temporary kick stand and just laid it flat on my flat room.
Satellite alignment was perfect, but 2 weeks later the Starlink app told me that the antenna was misaligned by 19 degrees. I called and asked if fixing that was included in my original contract. A new tech came the next day to fix the alignment problem. I specifically told him that we are in an area of high winds and that this was likely the cause of the new misalignment. He again simply laid the antenna flat on the roof. Just 48 hours later I lost all my internet connectivity.
The Starlink app and multiple phone calls to their AI agent, and live agents diagnosed “a hardware problem” and they shipped me a new router which took 5 days to arrive. This did not fix the problem. Next they said the problem was likely to be the power supply “because it didn’t show any lights.” It DOESN’T HAVE lights! Because that wasn’t going to be readily available, they then suggested that I go buy an entirely new KIT, which I did for $350, planning to return their rental equipment.
Still thinking that it was a hardware problem, probably a faulty antenna, and that your tech had just repositioned it 2 days before the system failed, I elected not to call you to come repeat a roof top installation. I’m 78 years old and disabled, but yesterday I placed an 18’ extension ladder against the house and climbed to the roof carrying the new antenna, because I was having major surgery today which would make the climb impossible. Much to my amazement and disappointment when I reached the roof, I found the antenna UPSIDE DOWN lying on its face. Gosh, I guess that IS a “hardware problem!” I have now ordered from Amazon a $30.22 pole mount converter for the antenna and will install it AFTER I’M recovered enough from surgery to repeat my aerial act climb and after I get Starlink to finally activate the new KIT!
I don’t understand why your technicians denied the possibility of using the most appropriate mounting hardware despite being made aware of a wind issue, and after I was told you supplied all the necessary hardware. Nor do I understand why the second tech just repositioned the antenna on the flat roof, knowing that in all likelihood the recent shift in alignment was due to wind. An OnTech phone rep told me today that they “don’t do pole mounts!”
To say that I’m DISAPPOINTED is an UNDERSTATEMENT and I will freely express that opinion to others if asked. My $110 installation fee was completely wasted since I’ve had to install the new system by myself and purchase the proper converter pole mount myself, PLUS I’ve lost a week of internet connectivity!

We had our Starlink installed today
We had our Starlink installed today, the Technician was polite, professional and quick. I often see negative reviews about "your technician did not clean my floor after installation." 1. Their job is not housekeeping, their job is installing the service you purchased. 2. When you invite others to your house, under no circumstances your guests are responsible for the well-being of your house. In this case, you invited the technician to come to your house at the time of purchase. You should be prepared prior to technician's arrival.
