This Ontech near me in Tennessee, quoted me an installation price of $264.94 to install 2 cameras and 2 smoke detectors.
Simplisafe says their charges start at 124.99. That is for a whole system according to Simplisafe's website. Really a cruel way to treat a disabled senior veteran.
DON'T ORDER THEIR SERVICE, ALL POOR REVIEWS.

Poor install, damaged my shed and stucco, then refused to come back
OnTech installed my Starlink dish in Gilroy, CA on September 5, 2026 under Starlink's free professional installation. The work was poor. Wrong mount for the location (a pivot mount screwed into a rafter tail with two bolts), a 150ft cable fitted where about 50ft was needed with the surplus coiled outside, cable left unsecured and run under my shed, debris left everywhere. The technician pulled my shed door off its hinge moving it. I have photos of all of it.
OnTech booked a return visit for September 18 to fit the right cable. The technician phoned that morning to say he didn't have a 50ft cable with him. I said there was no point coming without it. He told me I had a bad attitude and hung up. When I called OnTech they said the technician had reported me as abusive and cursing at him, which is not true, and they now refuse to send anyone back.
So I'm left with a substandard install, a damaged shed, and a company that closed the file on the word of the same technician who did the work. I've asked for the technician's notes and the call recording and had nothing. Complaint filed with the BBB and with Starlink. If you're offered OnTech through Starlink, I'd think hard about it.
Update 22 Sept. OnTech has now refused to come back and fix their own work. The reason: their technician "doesn't feel safe." What did I do? I told him, on the phone, that there was no point coming without the cable he was booked to fit, and asked why his manager hadn't called back. For that, there's now a note on my file calling me abusive.
Their Senior Case Manager rang today to deliver this. He couldn't tell me what I'd said. He didn't know if there was a recording. He didn't know the visit was to repair their own install. He wouldn't give me his surname. The same afternoon, DISH's privacy portal told me it holds no data about me at all.
So this is a company that will put a wrong mount on your roof, run 150ft of cable under your shed, break your door, crack your stucco, and then, when you object, brand you the problem and walk away. Starlink, to their credit, are paying someone else to redo it. Book that someone else first and skip OnTech.

It’s crazy reading some of the reviews…
It’s crazy reading some of the reviews in here. I read one where I had the same problem happen to me. I had an appointment for today and nobody showed got emails and texts confirming today and nobody showed. I called ontech and they said I wasn’t in their system which is crazy cause I have the emails to prove I had an appointment. I should now be a priority because of that and now have to wait another week cause I can’t wait around and take a day from work to wait for a ontech person to either not show up again or wait till the last minute to show up. Ontech is a joke

I ordered starlink and recieved…
I ordered starlink and recieved "professional installation" with it. The OnTech person that was sent out said that they can't install it because I have a metal roof. Not only does it seam unreasonable for someone who specializes in installing these to not be able to install it but at the very least they could offer a heads up stating that they are incapable of doing so beforehand

Had an appointment window from noon to…
Had an appointment window from noon to 5 on a Friday. The guy shows up 30 minutes before the appointment window and is clearly a little miffed that he has to wait because im still about 45 minutes away. I tell him the box of equipment is just inside the garage and the garage is unlocked. He says he doesn't want to open the box because sometimes starlink sends the wrong stuff. I dont know how his reasoning makes any sense at all. Dont you have to open the box to find out if they sent the right stuff?
He calls me again at noon amd I say im sorry but im still 15 minutes away. He gets more miffed that im not there but says he will wait. I show up at 12 15 and he's gone. I call their main line and the lady chides me for making the installer wait. He showed up 30 minutes before his appointment window? That 30 minutes is not my problem. Then they put me on hold indefinitely.
It was Friday and the guy didnt want to do his job. The people when you call the main line are incompetent. Just install it yourself. Its very easy.

I would absolutely not recommend OnTech…
I would absolutely not recommend OnTech Smart Services. I waited an entire month for an appointment to have my Starlink installed, stayed home all day waiting for the technician, and no one ever showed up.
What makes this even more unacceptable is that the technician documented that they came to my house, knocked on my door, and called me. None of that happened. I work from a home office at the front of my house and was there the entire day. I also have five dogs who immediately bark when anyone approaches or knocks on the door. I received no knock, no phone call, and no indication that anyone ever came to my home. To document otherwise is simply not truthful.
After already waiting a month, I was then told the next available appointment is another two weeks away. I rely on internet service to do my job, so this isn't a minor inconvenience. Their failure to show up has now put my employment at risk.
The complete lack of accountability, communication, and reliability is unacceptable. Missing an appointment is one thing. Claiming you showed up and attempted to contact a customer when you did not is another. Based on my experience, I do not consider this a trustworthy company and would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Stole my router
This was a completely unprofessional and disastrous installation. The technician did not even know properly how to use a drill and forced me to provide my own ladder to complete the work. To make matters worse he installed the Starlink 13 degrees out of alignment severely impacting reception.
The biggest issue happened when he left. He stole the router provided by my previous internet provider. Because he took my equipment, that company charged me $101.32 replacement fee. When I contacted the installation company to resolve this, they refused to provide the technicians name. This goes beyond poor service — it is theft. avoid this installation service at all cost.

Joey came right on time this morning to install our Starlink satellite and pair it with our existing Dish Network. He was extremely polite, knowledgeable, and even cleaned up after the installation! We live in Valley Center, CA.
