I feel like when I started the program and I had so much help from advisors, but towards the end zero accountability from advisors. Nor do they care about graduation ceremonies. It gave the feeling of “yes start school here, but we no longer care about when you’re finishing or finished your program.”

Very difficult advising system with misinformation. The lack of explanation of how the financial aid is not dispersed until 4-6 weeks after courses start is also a downside, especially when you need to plan for your futures. I had 4 separate advisors and each provided misinformation in regards to my master’s program. I was never sent an application for the program and was told I could submit undergraduate essays. This just was not true. Lesson: Don’t assume anything and if I doesn’t seem to sit well, continue to advocate for yourself. Classes seem to be solid with professors that have experience with real life application. When I went through this process I thought about how many people would have gone somewhere else strictly based off advising. They are your first impression and these issues need to be addressed on an organizational level with some direction.

The engagement at the beginning to enroll was the best and that’s why I decided to join and start my learning. After that it has been down hill so long to have someone respond and online learning not easy.

I just started my second week of class and have already had 4 different advisors. This was confusing and unnecessary. I pirchasedba book for this class and now the instructor says we dont need it. Someone could have said that sooner before I spent the money. Also, I sent a financial needs analysis form to my advisor Samantha and asked her to forward it to the proper department because I did not know who to send it to. The next week I got a call from erica who was my previous advisor who said she wanted to make sure everything was going well. I told her about the email I sent to Samantha and erica said she took care of it because they work in the same office. A month later I called financial aid and spoke with Kirsten who said they never received the document. I had to resend it to her and she took care of it for me. My advisors did not do their jobs. Very disappointed.

Over the course of the year and a half I have been attending NU (100% online) the classes have been bare bones and often have little involvement from professors outside small text documents. For a fairly expensive program, the content it offers is very little. The advisement has been a bit of a mess and even now I'm not entirely sure who my academic advisor is. It seems to have changed hands or if I write in, it's not uncommon to see a new name respond (they all seem to share a generic email). This becomes a bit problematic as I'm also not entirely sure how to read the mess of a document that's supposed to show my pathway to graduation. All in all, I'm too deep to change schools and I'd rather just finish than go through the process of switching. Not the best experience.

I don’t feel this school is completely geared towards hard working individuals. Professors and resources are not available and responsive as one would hope. The costs associated would warrant such availability and greater response.

Make sure and do your research, National is ok, but there are other schools I should have looked into and paid half of the price. There were a few professors that were very helpful in my journey to become a teacher, but otherwise, I feel that I was not as prepared for the amount of money I spent. I did, however, like the 4-week format, if you did not like a class it would be over within 4 weeks. I have been sent several emails regarding Alumni info, however, when I send an email to get help regarding something to do with my program, I get no answer. There are definitely pros and cons to each program.

I enjoyed the in-person classes and the credential support staff. Although I learned a lot, I do not feel that the credential program prepared me for the classroom. I would have appreciated knowing more on how to scaffold instruction across multiple grades and abilities, IEP preparation and presentation, and simplified data collection.
