The worst experience in my life dealing with admissions and the requisites. For this being an online school they really excel at making your life as complicated as possible by constantly switching your admissions overseer and asking for ridiculous information for an online school. Worst experience ever.

I reached out to National to get my Masters in Special Ed. What happened is beyond disappointing.
I reached out to National to get my Masters in Special Education. I already held a credential in general education. I was told that the best route was to get my credential first, then take two additional classes to obtain my Masters Degree. Classes within the program were poorly planned, assignments were confusing, out of date and not relevant. Many professors and staff members were unavailable or not helpful. Quite honestly, as an educator, the program for a degree in education was a complete farce and had I not already had background in what I was getting the credential in, I would not at all be equipped to be in a classroom with students. Upon my completion of the program, as I was instructed by a National advisor, I reached out to find out what next steps were to complete those final two classes to receive my Masters degree. I was then told that I was not eligible to pursue the Masters as I was told in an email because, "I was given misinformation from the National University advisor. That has happened to other students as well. I'm not sure why you were told that." My response was, you are a for profit university, this is what your representative told me in an email, how can we make this right so that I can complete what I originally intended to do. I was told there was nothing to do except reenroll in a separate Masters program that would take another two years of schooling and nearly $40,000. I am a single mom who is a teacher. I obviosuly don't have that kind of money. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with the education and policies of National University. The run around I received from beginning to end is inexcusable and the university should be ashamed of the education they are touting as high quality.

National University is an absolute joke…
National University is an absolute joke of an institution and we ALL know it. Financial Aid division is known "Nationally" as the absolute worse, even by degree-mill standards. Credentials department and Academic Advising have virtually zero cohesion and the result leaves students sorting through a multitude of conflicting information. Not to mention the courses are an absolute joke in every way. I absolutely despise National University and have personally swayed absolutely EVERY person who has asked me about enrolling away from National in favor os CSU, Point Loma, or Laverne. I regret ever enrolling myself but financial aid already screwed me so I'm stuck till completion.

military and military spouses STAY AWAY from here
I am a military spouse and was attending NU on the military spouse scholarship. My counselor failed to inform me that the degree program I was in could only be taken within the state of California. As a school founded by veterans and work closely with the military and spouse, they are very aware that it is rare for a military family to be in one place/stay in the same state for longer than 3 years.
When I dropped out from my program, they decided to not complete running my financial aid and make me pay back the classes I had took. I submitted an apeal but it was of course denied. Would not recommend National University to any military spouse .

Prospective Teachers Beware
Teachers: Beware. Beware. BEWARE. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
Financial Aid is the worst. They wait until the last possible moment to upload your student aid. It takes WEEKS for a scholarship to process. They will even take your scholarships back because you can’t have two forms of aid for one month. That’s right! You’re limited to one form of aid per month. If you’re “overcompensated” or “double dip”, they will literally rip it off your student account. Takes weeks to upload a payment but 2 minutes to steal scholarships from students.
Everything is self taught. Professors don’t make their own lessons, just regurgitate years old information. They also only want to use you as an ad. The first assignment for the teacher credentials program is to take a photo they can use for Instagram. And throughout the program you have GRADED assignments on your LinkedIn. They just want it to show off their horrible school.

Tuition is extremely high which is acceptable if we were learning anything. All four classes I have attended is student learning. It hurts to know the amount of debt I am in (BSN program) to have to instructors who actually teach anything.

Hi Tamara, thanks for taking the time to share. We have shared your concerns about the program with the the Department Chair Dr. Drummond.

Student advisors change about once a…
Student advisors change about once a week. Not worth the money. Teaching material is not up to date. Cost is way too much for what you get. About $2000/month. My classes and professors at San Diego college were much better for 1/10 of the costs. The only good thing about this school is the convenience of the 4 week courses.

I wish I could give negative stars
I wish I could give negative stars.
Scam of a University - I was so excited for furthering my education with National University. But NOBODY ever got back to me after numerous attempts.
I sent emails to admissions, help desk, both of my "counselors", the Scholarship department.... and finally gave up after a few months.
I personally think it was a ploy to not let me use the Transfer Scholarship to receive 50% off.
As soon as I showed the scholarships I was eligible for... nobody seemed to respond.
Terrible outreach program.
