They get an F rating with the Better Business Bureau for a reason! I also have filed a complaint with the Nevada Attorney General's office for unscrupulous business practice. I was pulled into Northscam by a slimy salesman who came to my door and talked me into letting him in. He just "happened" to have a tech with him so before they left I was hooked and the system was installed. I had problems from the start and calling them was a horrible experience. They would treat me like crap and tell me I had a contract, and basically not help fix the issue. 3 years into the "contract" I moved from my home of 40 years to a smaller place. I couldn't take their crappy system with me. They still charged me $99 to REINSTALL a system I didn't have! I am a widow barely making it on social security but they still take $49 out of my account every month. Beware because they will automatically renew your contract and you will never get roid of them. I was told this by someone who had this happen. So, I started last year telling them not to renew!! They wanted a "certified" letter. I sent 4....they kept "loosing" them. They finally acknowledged that they had the letter. Supposedly my "contract" will be over April 2021. I am so afraid they will not honor it!! They are scumbags!!!

I have had on and off problems at least 6 months into my contract. I have called NorthStar Security 3 times this week. Monday’s call was to cancel my contract because their Skybell and app work maybe half the time. It was then that they told me the only ways I could cancel was to pay off the $3300 I still owe them on my 5 year contract OR I could get someone else to take over my contract. Not in a million years would that happen. So I asked for a supervisor, I waited on hold for at least 15-20 minutes and got hung up on. That brings me to my call this morning. I figured that if I had to be stuck in this contract for another 4 years I might as well get what I want. I called and asked them if I could add onto my contract and get the 2 cameras, that is when I was told no once again. I was told that I can only “upgrade” my contract after 3 years of being with them. I have to stay in my 60 month contract and not make changes until year 3 and can’t cancel until year 5. This evenings call was to let them know that I was going to let others know the truth and the “supervisor” offered to get me $500 off of my $3300. I told him that I would uninstall all of their equipment and drop it off where ever they wanted and he told me that my stuff was too old, I signed up on 10/12/18. NorthStar is a trap and a scam. I would rather have no security system than have NorthStar. STAY FAR AWAY!

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. Worst company on planet Earth. They will promise and tell you anything to get you to sign a contract (my story) I had been a happy ADT customer for years when along came a Northstar salesman promising all sorts of things. I explain to the salesman that I would be moving in the year he explained this wouldn't be a issue all we would have to do is move the service at no cost to me. When it comes time to move they tried to raise my monthly rate. I refused as this was not part of the agreement in the initial consultation. They explained I could continue to pay for the monthly rate and the amount of time spent for unmonitored months would be credited to the account. I went with that. I was purchasing a new build it would take 4 months to finish. When it came time to reinstall the equipment they tried to blame me for equipment left at the old property. How was I to know what was needed. That's there job right. They uninstalled the equipment. They tried to charge me for it. I again refused. And the credit for the unmonitored months nope sorry can't do that so they lied to me. I was on the phone with Northstar for 4hrs with no real conclusion. Everytime I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told there was no supervisor available what a joke. They did offer to put the account on hold for 6 months to cover the cost of the equipment needed but 6 months would be added to my contract. Guess it's ok to ask me to pay for it twice. Be warned stay away from Northstar they're scammers, thieves with terrible I mean terrible customer service. Should have stayed with ADT better rates better equipment better customer service

How is this company still in existence? Oh... that must be the % of people who haven't had to move. Bottom line: stay away from Northstar.... who's name is ironic seeing as they have no moral compass whatsoever. In 2014 we get a lil' knock at the door with a sales rep who offered to "upgrade our equipment". Little did we know it was a sales ploy to get us to sign a new contract. Which was VERY INTENTIONALLY presented as just a formality for the new system. Imagine our surprise when we move cross Country in 2016 that no only did we lock in a 5-year agreement, that the ONLY way to get out of it was to pass the contract over to the new homeowners. What?! Have me pay a $100 fine and be done with it, whatever. But no... not really able to focus on it, we continue paying the $50/mo AFTER the service is turned off and AFTER we've moved 3,000 miles away. So this year, as we were preparing to look for other housing options, I decide to get a balance and pay it off. I do so -- ON MARCH 28, 2019. So why did we start getting past due notices in August? Because there has to also be a "notice of cancellation" letter mailed or emailed. Don't you think after 3 years and $1800 I would've mailed in some trivial notice if I was instructed that's what was needed?! This company is ridiculous and their salespeople are commissioned based scam artists.

I had a window broken at my house while I was away and the alarm didn’t go off to notify the police. If the police would’ve been notified, we could’ve held that person responsible and made them pay the $1,400 I had to spend to get it fixed. I called NorthStar so they can pay for the damages because it’s their systems fault for not ringing, and they only helped me with $500. I said that’s fine but take me out of my contract since I don’t trust this system anymore, and they would not. Do not sign up with this company, their equipment is not guaranteed to work. Don’t let what happened to me, happen to you.

Horrible customer service! My parents had this service, signed a contract in 2014 for 60 months (5yrs). The service NEVER worked right, and my father who signed them up has since passed. Since my mother no longer needs it (she has home health aids with her), we called to cancel. They said they got a "verbal agreement" several moths ago to extend the contract until 2021, so to cancel, we need to pay almost $2,000 - SCAM is all I can say. So if you have senior parents, make sure you stay as far away from this company as possible. In order to even try to cancel, we have to go to her family doctor and get a letter stating that she has had dementia for over a year - so she couldn't have verbally extended the contract. Who does this to people? The company is not morally sound. Horrible.

This company acts like your "favorite uncle" UNTIL they have finished. That's when they vanish! You can't get hands-on help with ANYTHING. You have to agree to a 60 month contract. When that registered with me that would be FIVE years, I tried to back out. My husband is 86, has diabetes, COPD, kidney failure and Alzheimers! I expressed that he probably would not live 5 years. They said not to worry - the contract could be transferred to another home. I said we might have to go to a nursing home; to which they said they would "make a note in my file - everything would be OK." Unfortunately, I believed them. Now they are gone - never to be seen again.Even when the batteries quit in 2 months and you discover the installation was not done properly. (They offered to mail me a screw to fix it!) DON'T GIVE UP ADT (OR ANY OTHER ALARM COMPANY) FOR THIS COMPANY!

I am a new homeowner and I made the biggest mistake when I open my door to a salemen who pressure me to signing a 60month contract for NORTHSTAR ALARM. so far the only biggest mistake i have made when it comes to purchasing my home is my Alarm service please do not make the same mistake. I was offered free equipment which include 2 panel, camera, sky-bell camera, glass breaker sensor and alot more. The sales rep tried to pressure me into doing a review 2-7 days after installation by text messages and phone call, begging and pleading for a 5 star review. I told him that I can not do a review on something I have not used. My question is that what is the purpose of having all this equipment If i have to keep calling for it to be fixed. I have had tech come out to my please more than 10times in he past 9 months. I have to call may be 4 time just to get one visit and when they come issue is not fix. I get tired of calling sometimes because i feel like it is a waste of time. Because When you contact them, you will have to wait 2 business days for a tech to call you back to schedule to come out to your home. Please do not get stuck like be I did not do my research and just went with the artist they sent to my door. Do not get stuck with crappy equipment and terrilble customer service. This company is not worth it, and if you get great service or not , if you equiment works or not they automatially take money out of you account and if you cancel they charge you for the lenght of time your contract is. If I really have the money I will love to pay them off so I can go with a better sercurty sytem because I really need it. I work night's and have having a secure home that you are paying monthly service to is a just a nightmare. t
