My 80 year old mother signed a contract with the Newton Group in October of 2018. She had made payments each month until all $5277.00 was paid in full by February of 2019, so 4 months worth. I worked alongside my mother for the entire process, so know ALL about dealing with this company. Before signing, I checked reviews from all over and for the most part, they seemed very positive, that’s why we moved forward. We had a very difficult timeshare location in Louisiana with strict rules and laws on top of my father being deceased leaving my mother as 50% owner. So this is why we hired the NG. I do think this is a reputable company, but their lack of communication is where they failed in following through until the end. Yes, I closed the timeshare! The NG was in contact with my mother from October 2018 until mid April 2019 and that was it! In April, Wyndham sent my mother a checklist of information needed in order to transfer the ownership from her back to Wyndham which included probate documents. This is where we had to do all the legwork! My mother and I had to hire two attorneys, one from CO and one from LA, in order to gather the documents needed to transfer ownership. We had NO follow-up communication from the NG from mid April 2019l until the end of October 2019 (6 months) after WE successfully transferred the timeshare in October. In late November, WE left a voicemail with the NG representative letting her know about the closure of the timeshare and asking for half of my mother’s money back. Early December, we received a phone call back from the NG representative stating that she had to talk to her manager about reimbursing my mother half of her money. We had a few phone calls back and forth in the month of December. AND then in January 2020, we receive a notice from NG how they are “working hard to ensure an end to the timeshare and being covered by their 100% guarantee” by retaining their Law Firm to help us out. Remember, we had closed the timeshare ourselves at the end of October, informed them in November, but still received “in progress” information in January. After talking to the manager, he said we broke the contract by reaching out to the timeshare company, but would have to talk to his manager to see about refunding money. We had no choice as we had NO follow up phone calls from the NG since April about how things were going and what our next steps would be after the probate issue. SHE paid them over $5000 with NO follow up. Why should she (at 81) now have to call them to ask about the next step…..we hired them. We didn’t even ask for their 100% guarantee money back, just 50% to be fair. Guess what? We called the top dog ourselves, with no return phone call, and had made a few calls in February to the first manager with NO return phone calls. This is the type of company they are! They totally ripped off my mother of $5277.00. Do NOT proceed with them. It’s cheaper to close it yourself! It takes hours, but can be done! Bottom line-we told them they need to be honest with their customers and up front about the process of probate and working with any timeshare in Louisiana as it’s a difficult state to work with. They agreed that this was all new to them, but DIDN’T do the right thing and at least return half of the money. SHAME ON THEM!!! Edited: 6/24/20: The Newton Group contacted me and resolved the issue. I gave them a one star at the time and now a three star for resolving. Thank you.

When you calculate how much it has and will continue costing you to KEEP your timeshare, you'll discover their price is worth it. The first contact makes it very clear what all costs up front are and what any new ones could be. You can tell right away you are dealing with professionals. Newton makes it easy to upload all the documents they need and they stay in touch with you throughout the process. My only complaints were: 1) we were told our assigned attorney would contact us and advise us if we should make our next maintenance payment to time share or not. That never happened and cause a little anxiety 2) when it seems to be taking so long, the agents who regularly call and touch base are unable to give you any clue as to what is taking so long. What we didn't know is we need only ask to speak with the assigned attorney. Then the agent sets up a phone appointment which was always 2 weeks away. But the attorney was pretty good about keeping that appointment. Sometimes it was rescheduled. I wish someone would have told us we could request a session with the attorney at any time. We were curious if this request would cost us more money, but it did not. Our process took just a little under 12 months so be ready for that. We are very glad we went with Newton . They are professional and there are so many scams out there to avoid.

The entire process of interacting with the Newton Group from the beginning to the end was a pleasure. The initial meeting with the representative was very informative and he gave us information which was completely accurate. We have been very please with our dealings with the Newton Group. The kept us up to date with progress reports during the proceedings.

We had lost money twice with other selling ploys. The Newton Group did what they said. They kept us informed through the whole process. Our case took longer but we never felt like we didn't know what was happening. The attorneys were accessible and answered all our questions. We are now time share free! I have already recommended the Newton to my family to use when they are ready to offload their time share. Big thanks to Newton Group!!
