Neighbors bank drug out the loan process from February until July. They were always wanting something extra. Instead of giving us a list up front each week it was something more. Than they told us the under writer quit and we had to start all over. Than they informed us that we needed to come up with an additional 6000.00 dollars on top of the 13000.00 they already required for a down payment. We were being charged an inducement charge of 26.30 a day which no one ever informed us of. Bad Business please read the small print.

Christian Gentil has a public record of this behavior
I am a recent customer of Neighbors Bank. My loan officer was Christian Gentil.
Christian Gentil was the most unprofessional, incompetent loan officer I have ever dealt with. He disappeared for days during a critical closing period without arranging coverage or notifying clients. When I followed up after receiving no response, he clapped back at me unprofessionally, claiming he had been out for surgery. That is not an excuse — a professional arranges coverage for active files before going out.
When I raised documented, legitimate concerns in writing, his response was: 'Most of what you emailed is not the case.' In a single sentence he called me a liar, dismissed every concern I had raised, and completely discredited me as a client. It was one of the most dismissive and disrespectful responses I have ever received from a professional in any industry. He then attempted to move the conversation to a phone call — away from written documentation — a tactic designed to control the narrative and avoid accountability. I refused.
His fundamental misunderstanding of basic IRA tax withholding mechanics directly caused my closing to miss its June 1st date. He did not understand the difference between a gross distribution and a net deposit on a Traditional IRA. That is not advanced knowledge — it is fundamental to qualifying retirement income for a mortgage.
I was ultimately assigned to senior officers at Neighbors Bank who resolved the matter professionally. The bank president himself approved my loan. My loan officer should never have been the obstacle.
Christian Gentil has a public record of this behavior. He is not someone you want handling your most important financial transaction.

Can't get a hold of anyone
Can't get a hold of anyone. Had one phone call from "Dani" who is supposed to be my representative. She gave me a phone number that doesn't work and texts that she won't answer. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone.

Horrible experience
Horrible experience. I’m a first time home buyer and the process dragged on for 6 months. The inspection of the home listed two cosmetic issues but they made me completely gut and fully renovate a bathroom. I was buying the home as is from the seller so this came out of my pocket. No transparency. They requested access to my bank account multiple times. Lied to me about closing fees. They were often times rude on the phone. I ended up stopping the rides bc my house had a tree fall through it. The seller is getting it fixed thanks to insurance and I’m starting the buying process over again with another company. I do NOT recommend this company

We’re really sorry to hear how frustrating and upsetting this experience felt. That’s not the impression we ever want to leave, and we take feedback like yours seriously. Lending decisions are based on a variety of factors, but that doesn’t make the experience any easier, particularly if the communication felt impersonal or unfriendly.
If you’re open to it, we’d appreciate the chance to connect with you directly to better understand what happened and see how we can help or provide clarity.

They sold our mortgage before we even…
They sold our mortgage before we even made the first payment. Such a huge pain! If we wanted a different company we would’ve gone with them in the first place! Will never recommend them to anyone.

Thank you for sharing this. I’m really sorry for the frustration and confusion this caused, especially during what should be an exciting time as a new homeowner. While it’s common in the mortgage industry for loans to be transferred shortly after closing, we know that doesn’t make the experience any less disruptive, especially if the communication wasn’t as clear or reassuring as it should have been. Your feedback highlights an important gap, and we take that seriously.
We’d truly appreciate the opportunity to help clarify what happened and ensure you feel confident about where your loan is and who you’re working with now. Please don’t hesitate to reach out so we can walk through everything with you and address any concerns directly.

Avoid this lender at all costs
If you are a Realtor working with a pre-approval from this company, do yourself and your clients a favor, find another lender.
We were assigned this lender through Veterans United Home Loans, a company we no longer work with due to misaligned values and concerns about their lending practices. Our loan originator, Heather Yackley, was initially responsive and helpful, providing home-specific pre-approvals. However, once we had an accepted offer, communication fell apart.
The first issue was the loan commitment, which required repeated follow-ups just to receive on the day of the deadline. Fortunately, the listing agent granted an extension. From there, things appeared to move forward and FHA repairs were addressed. Then, less than 48 hours before closing, I was notified by the title company that closing was canceled, with zero prior communication from the lender.
After reaching out, we were told my client lacked sufficient funds to close. This was surprising, as she had been quoted for weeks around $2,700 cash to close. Less than two days before closing, new “reserve” requirements were introduced. Anyone in lending knows large last-minute fund changes can cause major issues.
To make matters worse, the loan coordinator, Brittany Christian, gave my client conflicting instructions on how to move funds, creating unnecessary confusion. My client was ready to resolve the issue through acceptable means, but this should have been addressed well in advance.
What followed was a consistent pattern of poor communication. Emails would go unanswered for days. When responses came, they were often late in the evening and incomplete. Meanwhile, my client, a first-time buyer, had already given notice to her landlord and had no clear timeline on when she could close.
After multiple attempts to get answers, I raised concerns about the lack of communication. In response, I was told I could no longer communicate with the loan coordinator. Shortly after, Heather contacted my client directly and stated they would no longer work with me because I was “rude,” despite my client having full visibility into all communications and agreeing the concerns were valid.
Nearly two weeks after our original closing date, we still had no clear timeline. When I followed up again, the response was dismissive and provided no real update.
Even right before closing, last-minute requests were made for FHA repair photos that had already been provided weeks earlier. I still drove 35 minutes to the property to get them, only to confirm the lender already had the documentation...for weeks prior to this. Which again makes me blame them entirely for the delays in this transaction.
After closing, another major issue arose. The lender’s closing disclosure contained errors, resulting in a $2,000 shortfall due to double-counted earnest money. We were told Neighbors Bank would cover it, but they only sent $1,300, leaving my client to resolve the rest. The title company expressed serious concerns with how this file was handled and also threatened legal action against them.
This was one of the most disorganized and poorly communicated transactions I have experienced. I have filed formal complaints with both the lender and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
I strongly advise agents and buyers to avoid this lending team. The lack of communication, conflicting guidance, and repeated errors created unnecessary stress and risk throughout the entire process.

I’m very sorry for the experience you and your client had. The communication gaps, last-minute changes, and closing issues you described are not the standard we strive for. I understand how disruptive this was, especially for a first-time buyer on a tight timeline.
Your feedback, including the concerns around funds to close, coordination, and the post-closing discrepancy, is being taken seriously and reviewed internally. You and your client deserved clearer communication and a smoother process.
If you’re open to it, I’d appreciate the opportunity to connect and help address any remaining concerns, including the closing shortfall.

The worst experience I ever had
The worst experience I have ever had. No one knows what the other is doing. Complete incompetence. They string you along with one mistake after another. Finally said enough and went to my Realtor for a recommendation.
