DO NOT ever take out a National Geographic Kids subscription. Once you do you can’t ever cancel it. I bought a gift subscription for a relative 2 years ago. I tried to cancel the renewal last year but they did not reply to emails and the given phone number is never answered. I even filled out the ‘cancel subscription form’. I blocked the payment with my bank but Nat Geo kids got round it somehow & still charged my credit card. The bank took the case further. Unbelievably the same thing has happened this year despite the continuing block by my bank of any further deductions. Yet again, no email response from Nat Geo kids, the phone number rings to times then cuts off. We even phoned the American head office who owns them, they promised to investigate & reply within 2 days. Still no response. I am now taking this further legally.

Took a payment out of our account without any communication, difficult to find a phone number on line. When you do find the right number they say they are having "technical difficulties" and you get cut off. Not been able to log in on line. Therefore currently out of pocket for something we don't want and National Geographic are completely ignoring us. A triumph for customer service

I have just spoken with Customer Service because I was charged twice for my subscription renewal this year. Apparently this is a known issue and all Direct Debit subscribers have been charged twice this year. This is not communicated anywhere on the NGM website, which is scandalous. I was told to expect a refund this Friday, which will be two weeks after the money was taken from my account. This is also hard to explain or forgive. Such a pity that such a brilliant magazine has such awful administration.

They have removed options for annual one-off subscriptions to National Geographic Kids (or else made it impossible to find). So now the only option is an auto renewing subscription which you have to remember to cancel (by emailing or calling... cannot just click a button to cancel). They obviously are hoping you will forget to cancel.

I have been a National Geographic member/subscriber for over 50 years. I read my parents magazines for almost 20 years before that. I will be a member no longer. I can no longer tolerate the racist, sexist bent of this once vibrant magazine. The editor has brought her lack of scientific background and personal prejudices to bear on her work--where it has no place. Every issue is has become a far left opinion piece instead of fact-based story with broad interest. Too bad.

I just cancelled two subscriptions even before receiving the first issues. Their website is awful, their database is confusing and their customer service is deplorable.

Like some other subscribers, I am continually having to contact the magazine as my copy does not arrive. I have subscribed for some years and until this year, the service was good. I do not understand what the problem is as my other magazines all arrive on time. I may as well cancel my direct debit as I now have to contact the magazine every month!
