this depressed black girl loves mood health!
I'm a recent college graduate who's been struggling with depression for a few years, and I saw various professionals throughout college, but always felt guilty about the prices my parents had to pay just for me to get decent mental health services. I hadn't seen a psychiatrist in several months since the pandemic hit and was running low on meds, and as my mental health started deteriorating, I really needed to see someone who could get me back on track. I saw an ad for Mood on instagram, and the cute pictures had me intrigued enough to bookmark it and check out their website. It seemed relatively inexpensive compared to the services I had used before, so I decided to try it out. As a young black woman I was so happy to see that one of their providers was a black woman as well, and I signed up to see her. From the first meeting, I felt like she actually listened to my concerns and truly cared about my wellbeing, in contrast to other professionals I had seen in the past few months who didn't think my case was severe enough for medication. I have been seeing her for several months now and don't think I could ever find a better psychiatrist. Also I love the mood health online portal that makes it easy to reschedule appointments, which I had to do last week because I was having a really bad episode and needed to talk to her about changing my meds. She helped me change right away to medication that would better fit women with hormonal problems like me, and I got it in 3 days. The meds are priced reasonably, they're around the same price I would pay if I used my insurance, and the meetings aren't hundreds of dollars a month like it is for a normal psychiatrist. So in summary, I really can't say enough about my experience at mood health. I'm really grateful that a service like this exists for people who want accessible and affordable care, with providers who are knowledgeable, experienced, and really care about their patients.
