First time user
I have just tried this product and this is what I found. I was intimidated by all of the advice as how to use the product. I was doing kitchen counter tops so there was not too much coverage as compared to a floor. I hand applied with a white pad, wiped the excess off after ten minutes, and buffed the wood with a polishing pad. The material covers the wood but does not do any fill in like poly. Make sure your surface is as perfect as you wish. Being no expert, I would guess their recommendation of a fairly coarse finishing grit is due to the increased bonding surface. I did not use the accelerator so my curing time is longer. I did not want the material to start setting up before I was ready. And it is true, a little goes a long way. Touted as low or no VOCs, the material does have a strong and persistent aroma, similar to a hot cup or Earl Grey with cream and honey. What is in this stuff? The MSDS reveals nothing. I did read somewhere of the esoteric chemical, it is not a free lunch. The aroma dissipated within a week, the surface going from waxy to hard. The wood looks like wood, there is significant ambering. How it will stand up only time will tell. My previous go to product has been water base polyurethane but at least seven coats are needed. Monocoat says it all—just one application. I would recommend it.

I needed a finish for my butcher block…
I needed a finish for my butcher block counter top. I called the company and got a live person to talk to. He answered all my questions, helped me figure out how much I needed, and talked me through the online ordering. It came in the mail when he said it would. I applied the Monocoat to my counter top and so far so good.

Craftsman Morris Chair
Love the product. I applied it to a Craftsman style White Oak chair that I built. I am very pleased with the results. Based upon the style of furniture I was applying it to, it did take time to remove as much of the oil as possible. Yet, compared to apply the normal finish with multiple layers of top coat, this process was still much easier and quicker.
