Hanging up on a customer is a thing, apparently
About 2 weeks ago my data began disappearing rapidly which was completely off from how the service worked for the prior year. Nothing changed on my end but this vanishing data issue was forcing me to purchase $5 data top ups almost daily. In fact I spent $40 in top-ups in a 48 hour period several weeks ago. Anyway about 10 days ago, Metro's app stopped accepting the $5 payments from me through the app or internet or phone. I tried multiple cards and double checked with my bank. The error was on their end but they couldn't seem to figure out how to fix it. AND THEY WOULD CUT OFF MY SERVICE DAILY BECAUSE OF A $5 BALANCE THAT WAS LESS THAN 12 HOURS OLD. I tried applying for extensions but they said no despite my impeccable payment history and no previous extension requests.. thus I would be without phone service until either 10 am when a metro store opened or If a representative was kind enough to waive the 5 bucks and reconnect my service....which they did a couple of times...but this was happening daily. So here we are again with the same issue last night and I'm on the phone with this guy from customer service who told me he submitted a ticket to the service department and I can expect a result in up to 36 hours. My service was suspended again at this time and I asked him if that meant I would not have cell service for possibly upto 3 days. He said yes. I said no, that won't work. My cell is my only line. It is my business and I am a single mom to a 4 yr old and cannot go 3 days without a phone because they can't figure out how to accept a $5 payment. Mind you this has been going on daily for minimum 8 days now. I was polite but urgent in my message to him yet he kept repeating the same sentence which did not address my concerns or make much sense. I had to ask him again about the service interruption time frame which he replied with the exact same sentence "you can call back tomorrow and your service will be suspended for 3 days." I told him again that wont work for me and what else can we do and he repeated the same exact sentence again like a robot with no effort to address my concerns. And so i told him I did not understand and....he hung up on me. Mid sentence. Absolutely just hung up. His attitude was lack luster from the get go which was off putting but after he straight up hung up on me, I could not connect back to customer service. I have no idea what he did to my service but I was unable to contact customer service from that point on. It kept saying something like no access or some message indicating my phone could not access cust service. I tried 611. I tried my metro app, the # listed online...everything i could think of. It was like he black balled me from metro service and that lasted until 7:30 am when I finally was able to connect and reach someone. The new guy this morning took 2 minutes, waived the $5 fee, reconnected my service and walla..problem solved albeit temporarily. But the damage that guy from last night, who offered no other option than me being without service for 3 days and then hung up on me when I asked him to explain further....and for his final act of malice, deleted my account from existence to where I was unable to reach out for help to anyone else....that damage is irreparable. That insane display of immaturity dressed up in a cheap power suit cost Metro my business. I have a degree in communications and have worked many years in public relations driven industries and will be the first to admit if I handled a situation badly or lost my cool but I didn't even so much as display a disagreeable attitude when speaking with him. I was frustrated with the reoccurring situation and expressed urgency in my questioning about loosing my service for 3 days but I was in no way disrespectful towards him. There was absolutely no reason or justification for him to hang up on me. Ah ha but then for him to see to it that I was cut off from any access to help whatsoever was diabolical on his part. Metro lost my business because of him. I only wish I paid attention to his name or employee number because he alone could sink the company if that is his standard level of service. Big disappointment 😪. Plus the payment issue and the sudden data draining and disconnecting my service day after day for the $5 charge that was less than 12 hours old without a way for me to pay...well that sucked...but this guy's customer service skills took the cake....and that says alot. Sorrry for writing a magnus opus but i am still in shock at the level of unprofessionalism and unprovoked vitriol this man spewed upon me in the name of Metro PCS. I'm no Karen but damn if I won't channel any inner Karen I can find while I repeat this review everywhere I can find. Do better Metro.
