Design is fundamentally flawed
This was a disaster purchase. The scooped litter is NOT stored in an airtight compartment. It’s open to air circulation. So it actually smells WORSE than a regular litter box, in which at least the poo is buried under litter. I decided to try different litter and attempted to wash this thing. Ugh. Heavy, insanely hard to get clean. And, the door came off its hinge and now I can’t get it back on. This is the worst wasted purchase I’ve ever made. Edited to reply to Meowant: No. The dirty litter is NOT sealed off. There is a 3 mm gap at the top of the external compartment door. The door has no gasket and only seals tightly on one side. The inner plastic flap that is the "door" to the litter pan itself has no seal and hangs slightly open when the box is at rest. There are no materials that make any of these closures air-tight. It's just hard plastic against hard plastic, and has significant design flaws so these edges are not even fully closed.
